I had a chance to try Double Black. It was actually really good, so I decided on purchasing a bottle.
I've heard that Black is also nice.
Which would you all say has more of a "younger" feel to it? Also, which is better overall?
I'm mainly interested in the tropical aspect of Black. So basically, as ironic as this may sound, which has LESS of a "dark" feel?

Asked a good friend who knows both as I am a fan of neither, and he said Polo Black was better.

Thanks everyone. I'll stick with Black then.

Polo Black has less darker notes. But to me it smells more generic.

On the other hand, the DB is much reacher, darker and overall is a much better scent.

I own and like both, but can't really say that I truly love either.

Black is a great office scent with a fabulous mango top note. I find the patchouli dry down to be a very average version of patch, and not that long lasting on my skin. This scent is a real crowd-pleaser, though, especially among the late twenty-somethings at work.

Double black also has a great top note. It's referred to as iced mango, I believe, and is indeed "more black" than that of its brother. It then morphs into more of an evening or night-out scent that is appropriate for any age group, in my view. This one also loses some favor with me in the dry down. I find the promised coffee accord to be mostly absent, and the fragrance ends up being overly sweet and cloying overall on my skin. It does last a little longer than its brother on me, though.

At the end of the day I probably enjoy the original Black a little more. It really isn't a black fragrance, to be sure, but I do think it is more successful at being what it is.

Black is so underrated. I don't think either is younger or more mature in smell, just one for day and one for night.. Double Black of course being for night. Longevity sucks on both of them, but damn, do they smell good.

I own a sample of Black, and a bottle of Double Black.

I like Double Black better, but if I guess Black smells "younger". So, if that is what you are looking for, Black may be best, but I think Double Black is a better scent, and lasts longer.

Mango is such an under-used note in fragrance.

Double Black is, to my sniffer, Armani Code minus that "Play-Doh" smell. Very high quality fragrance, but certainly not tropical.

Just avoid Tommy. Rotten fruit and bugspray. UGH.

Double Black is more oriental - that is to say, the style is fresh, then slightly spicy and oriental. Polo Black, on the other hand is just a fresh and woody fragrance. The drydown is powdery and woody but the fresh and fruity aroma of the mango is most pronounced in Black. I like Polo Black better because it has far better longevity than Double Black, which is more of a subtle evening scent, by my estimation and the smell projects quite well.

Owned both Black and Double Black.
Gave away Black, kept Double Black.
I liked the warmer, richer, darker scent of Double Black.

Black has a younger feel to it but Double black is better overall IMO. They are very different fragrances. As a matter of fact, I notice no similarities whatsoever. Black has more of a clean, melon-type smell to it. I would definitely try Black before I buy it if I were you. I own both and enjoy both, but that's just me. I will say I've gotten way more compliments when wearing Black than Double Black. As a matter of fact, I've never had anyone compliment me when wearing Double BLack.
