Im loving Rive Gauche and Azzaro PH... What next for me?

Thread Starter
I've had RGPH and Azzaro PH for a week or so and am really digging what I smell. I'm ready to make a jump for another frag so I'm hoping for a few good suggestions. I'd like to keep my budget under $50 if possible.

Carbone de Balmain perhaps.

Just purchased Rive Gauche a few weeks ago. Great frag. Give Midnight in Paris a try. As always, try to sample first.

Caron Pour un Homme

RGPH and Azzaro ph are both aromatic fougeres. Other good aromatic fougeres include Drakkar Noir (more butch) and the already mentioned Caron pour un homme (smoother).

The original Jazz by Yves Saint Laurent.
It hasn't suffered too much from reformulations (like some other aromatic fougeres) and it can be bought quite cheaply on the Internet.

If you're looking for another masculine scent that is dapper and has that old school, yet modern feel, I suggest checking out Boucheron Jaipur Homme (EDP or EDT). It's a good bit sweeter, but it's very plush and makes you feel like a modern gentleman. Polo Modern Reserve is another good one but with more of a green, forest-like powerhouse feel. Quorum, as mentioned earlier, is another good forest green powerhouse...although it is a bit dated compared to the others I mentioned. If it's the soapiness in Rive Gauche that tickles your fancy, then Prada Amber Pour Homme will make you feel like a million bucks. Although not like Rive Gauche at all, Chanel Allure Homme is a great modern Swiss army knife of a fragrance. It's very warm, inviting, and gentlemanly. If it weren't discontinued and near impossible to find for a reasonable price, I believe Gucci envy would have been a good next step. L'Occitane Eau de Vetyver gives me a similar vibe to Envy and is priced at $50 for a 100ml bottle. Oh, and a fragrance that is similar to Drakar Noir but more modern and with a soapy vibe is Abercrombie & Fitch Woods.

As above Jaipur Homme EDP will be lovely addition.

Saw that mesaboogie mentioned Prada Amber Pour Homme as an anternative. I agree, and would point to Prada's brand new Luna Rossa as an even closer example of the type. Here, the focus is more on lavender and less on amber. It's no powerhouse in the way of an Azzaro or a Rive Gauche. But it is a very high quality aromatic fougere with a subtle but unmistakable barbership vibe. There's even an accompanying after shave splash version that has all the good stuff in the ingredients list, like witch hazel.

Chanel pour Monsieur might be worth testing

Eloge du Traitre by Etat Libre d'Orange is the next step

Take a look at Heritage - Guerlain (a good friend of Rive Gauche's friends) and Tuscany - Aramis (an Azzaro PH good companion).

Apparently you like the very masculine scents. For $50 or less, you could get VanCleef & Arpels pour homme *and* something like Quorum or Bogart pour homme. These are very masculine "powerhouse" frags, and quite different from your RG and Azz. PH.
