Rochas man

Dior Homme Intense

Subscribing to this thread.

I agree with Rochas man, if you like the chocolate coffee. Pure Malt is nice too, so is A*Men.

My favorite is Le Male.

Hard to say. Perhaps A*Men.

Unknown pleasures by Kerosene.

Frapin - 1697 (if you can count this as a gourmand)
Frapin - 1270
PG - Coze
Guerlain - Tonka Imperiale
Bond no. 9 - New Haarlem
Serge Lutens - Borneo 1834
(also grey area, but gourmand enough)
FM - Musc Ravageur
Mugler - Pure Malt

Dior Homme Intense
Angel Men & flankers

I'm going to throw Original Santal out there, this more and more and comes off to me as gourmandish, but very fresh.

Some other nominations:
L'Occitane Eau des Baux (vanilla)
Diptyque Philokylos (fig)
LIDGE (chocolate)

What gourmand note is in DHI?

Hermes Ambre Narguile. I find I don't reach for gourmands much at all these days, but it's pretty scrumptious nevertheless.

Hmmm, unsure whether unisex or just for the ladies. Then again I've not worried about that distinction for quite some time.

Al Rehab Choco Musk
Hermes Ambre Narguile
Bond #9 New Harlem
New Haarlem. Rochas Man is 70% gourmand, 30% woody/floral. New Haarlem is like 95% gourmand.
DHI. Pure malt. Also throw out givenchy play intense and new harlem
Rochas man has become a little boring to me but I still like it.

Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau

The word gourmand is a pretty ambiguous term. In every fragrance you smell you can usually pick out one or two notes that smell edible, wether its citrus, vanilla, spices etc, and vice versa something widely considered to be gourmand can smell totally inedible (tar note in A*men). So when does a scent go from having food like qualities, to being a full on gourmand?

Try the 'Taste of Fragrance' flanker to A*Men for a dose of chilli chocolate and coffee - I also really enjoy Givenchy Pi with it's sweet vanillic almond accord thanks to the benzoin crystals.

I am not a big gourmand lover but Yohji Homme has gotta be up there...

Forgot about this one, but I agree.

And since you mentioned Yohji Homme, I'd probably have to add Xerjoff's Uden to my list (as it reminds me of it a bit).

I'm waiting for the anchovy flanker on that one.

As much as I love Pure Malt and A*Men, New Haarlem is a whole other level of gourmand.
A*Men
Rochas Man
So many, right now I'd say Pure Havane and Ambre Narguile
post #28 of 49
Best gourmand I have ever smelled.

Dior homme intense, hanae mori hm
A*Men A Taste of Fragrance (love that chili powder) and New Haarlem
post #31 of 49
New Haarlem is 100% gourmand.
Am I the only one to find DHI not "edible" enough to be consider a gourmand? The lipstick would ruin my desert of vanilla and cocoa!

As for the gourmand:

I love NY for All - marrom glace popcorn
New Haarlem - mapple syrup coffee
HM - Chocolate fruity desert
24 Gold - Raspberry creme brulee
Play Intense - Oranges tonka coffee

Rochas Man

Niche: Endymion by Penhaligons

For all you niche-heads out there, check out Profumum Roma. They've got a bunch of gourmand fragrances with atomic projection and longevity. My two personal favorites: Dulcis In Fundo and Vanitas!
They're pretty damn expensive tho. But as with all Profumum Roma fragrances, a little goes a looooong way

Another great gourmand would be Xerjoff's Lira from their Casamorati 1888 line.

My favorites woud be New Haarlem and Tonka Imperiale
post #41 of 49
Hmmm some frags here posted I never considered "gourmand". DHI, chergui, and lidge.
Dior Homme Intense
Rochas Man
As far as DHI goes, I wouldn't really classify it as a gourmand. It has some gourmand qualities to it (vanilla & cacao) but that's it. It's not completely a gourmand due to the iris, cedar and vetiver notes. Beautiful fragrance nevertheless

Also Musk Gazelle by Ajmal.
