ginger fragrances

When I got up this morning, I grabbed my Mona di Orio Vetyver to wear. It got me thinking, I really like her use of ginger in it. It dries the juicy vetiver down. Any other fragrances that make good use of ginger?

Dior Homme Sport - not a thing like the original and not my cup of tea, but well put together and BIG on the ginger.

There's a nice touch of fresh ginger in amongst the verbena / lemongrass accord in Mito EDP (Vero Kern) that reminds me of a terrific Thai drink that uses these ingredients. It's set in a predominantly green backdrop, one of the best new releases of this last year IMO.

I also get a sense of freshly sliced ginger (which can be quite sweet and tart at the same time) in Myrrhe et Delires (Guerlain) and Interlude Woman (Amouage) - the two are quite similar to me, I wore them both a lot last summer and they work well in tropical heat - but whether you or anyone else would perceive it as ginger is anybody's guess

I really like ELdO's Like This, a very dry ginger/immortelle with a neroli opening. Some describe it as having a pumpkin note, which I don't really get, although there is a spicy vetiver that might account for the rooty/spice thing. Anyway, an unusual perfume altogether and a really nice ginger.

My favorites are

Sens et Bois by The Differnet Company and Neela Vermaire Trayee.

Maitre Parfumeur's Eau pour le jeune Homme Extravagante (a flanker to the traditional Jeune Homme) features a very realistic and dominant ginger note all through its development.

My favorites that have a strong ginger note are:

Dior Homme Sport (2008 version)
Bleu de Chanel
Hugo Element

Kenzo Power Cologne

Is there a scent which keeps the initial opening of YSL L'Homme Gingembre throughout? I love the opening but it quickly disappears into a nondescript ozonic fragrance.

Joop! Rococo. All about the ginger.

Kevin Guyer gave me a decant from his bottle of Demeter Gingerale and I had to buy a bottle after that. Love it!

the best abstract ginger I smelled - the old YSL Opium for men edt

How come nobody mentioned the original YSL L'Homme!

If you want "dessert" Ginger, cannot beat 5 O'clock au Gingembre

For sharp, tangy refreshing Ginger, Declaration Cologne beats Dior Homme Sport hands down.

This sounds great. How's the longevity on this?

Burberry Sport is another one, a cheaper alternative to the original Dior Homme Sport.

The company called Origins do one of the best ginger fragrances I have ever tried.
Also, try vintage Loewe Pour Homme.....a ginger spice BOMB !

+1 for Like This.

Also, Ginger by Gorilla Perfumes is great; long-lasting & inexpensive.

Envy is good, but so hard to find. A cheap high quality alternative is Jacamo Aura.. it just lacks a bit on the woods, but it's pretty good.

YSL L'homme has one of the juiciest ginger notes I have ever smelled, but it just doesn't last on my skin.

Samba Heat is a cheap ginger/tea bomb. Pretty unique, and inexpensive.. does not smell cheap.. but does not smell good imo. The combination of ginger and tea isn't done well.

Herrera makes a ginger based flanker to their original fragrance. I know little about this, would love to try it, but cannot find a sample.

+1 Gucci Envy. I love the heavy ginger in this one. It's a shame that it was discontinued before I came to fully appreciate it. I would have stocked up on it.
