i have added a poll - tell me what do you think..
i need to chose a fragrance for a first date
i usually use pure malt but i came to a conclusion that it's way too strong (even 2 sprays)

pros and cons (what i have thought of)

john varvatos classic
pros: mysterious,unique
cons: very weak projection and longevity.. it's 3-4 hours for me

d&g the one
pros: warm,sensual scent
cons: longevity is awesome on my skin .. projection not really. not as unique as JV

bleu de chanel
pros: projection, longevity, seem to be loved by women
cons: not unique enough, aquatic (maybe a sweet scent is better for a date)

From this list, I'd take either John Varvatos or Bleu de Chanel- they should both be very suitable and very stylish, quite unique (in different ways) to be worn on dates.

I voted D&G the one. When I recently sampled some colognes in Bloomingdales I eventually found myself wandering around the mall and kept smelling my hands every once in a while. Eventually I found I enjoyed one scent above the rest (one of which was Varvatos Artisan Black), D&G the one. It was a scent that just kept drawing me in, which I'd say is what you want on a first date.

The better scent period IMO from your list: Bleu de Chanel

Bleu de Chanel and D&G The One are both great date scents, but I voted for Chanel.

Even though the longevity is rather weak, I would go with D&G The One.

For dates and close encounters you can hardly beat D&G The One. The rest are good and versatile scents (especially Chanel Bleu) but for the primary purpose of dates then the D&G wins hands down.

D&G The One is probably very nice for the uneducated nose when sniffed the first time. I think it's very average fragrance and tiring in the long run. But it doesn't matter in the context of this question.

D&G The One is sexier IMO. BDC is great too but The One is just plain sexy. Plus, there's less of a chance of over spraying due to weak projection. You don't want to be the "Cologne Guy" when she tells her friends about the date.

The One no questions asked.

John Varvatos is a great scent, but more for the office than a date, in my view.

The One and Bleu are both perfect for dates, I had a difficult time choosing between these two. In the end, Bleu got my vote, because so many women just go weak at the knees over this. They love it!

I voted bleu de chanel

Impossible to say. Different women like different things.

In my household, to my surprise and delight, scents like Eucris or Yatagan are vastly more appreciated than say Pure Malt or Jaipur, who've only invited mockery.

I wouldn't consider loud projection a positive for a date scent. You're going to be close to one person all night and Bleu de Chanel, especially, is going to be overwhelming at close range. Unless you're trying to establish yourself as "the cologne guy", I'd look elsewhere.
The One -- do close sprays (about 1 inch from your skin) for better projection and longevity.

Honestly, I don't believe in date scents. I don't really wear fragrances on dates (as that's what every other guy does and she can just smell the desperation).

Of the three, you should choose Bleu de Chanel because women love it. lol

Also, BdC is the only one of the three you mentioned that I would ever wear.

Wear whichever one makes you feel the most confident when wearing it.
She is far more likely to be receptive to you if you're confident and relaxed than what your cologne smells like.

Bleu for sure.

Bleu, dear sir, is your fragrance.

Be original and wear Aramis
