Huh? When I read this, I was rather surprised... and very skeptical. I'm even more skeptical now because their own website contradicts this statement:

"Shipping costs might not be inclusive of all taxes and duties depending on your residing country. Please note, Customs policies vary from country to country. You may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are enforced once a shipment reaches your country. Charges for customs clearance must be paid by you. Unfortunately, we have no control over these charges."

So which is it? I've never heard of a company paying for another country's VAT or customs. As they correctly state, they have no control over these charges. So unless I'm mistaken, the first statement was pure, unadulterated bull-droppings.

There are Europeans looking to cash in on the lower dollar by buying stuff here to get shipped over there. I don't blame them but if you don't want to pay shipping and handling that is posted on the website or the bill, then don't do it. Pretty simple.

And if you've been around so much you know we could write a book about the stores who list items for sale that aren't in stock, why single him out? No, it's not right, but I contact them first to make sure what I want is available because I've had that happen to me too many times, not just with smaller etailers, but with large internet and B&M stores. At least he apologized in person unlike most of them. It's Christmas, lighten up...

Hello Everyone,

I was very tempted to respond again. First of all, I would like to thank all those who have supported our company and have faith in our business ethics. Thank you Mr. Mi-Hooked for your kind words, I really appreciated it specially coming from another online merchant who goes through what we go through on a daily basis. The shipping page on our website has now been edited, however I would like to correct myself by stating that all European Countries have no need to worry about VAT or any duties/taxes being charged to them. The countries we don't have control over are generally in Asia that we haven't quite gotten accustomed to ship to. Therefore we have to save ourselves by stating that the "Shipping costs might not be inclusive of all taxes and duties depending on your residing country (outside of the EU)".

Shamu1, when the order gets emailed to the customer stating the order is being processed, that is a confirmation of acknowldegement that the order is ready to be shipped and has no problems.

Thank you all for standing behind us once again. I sincerely appreciate it.

Best Regards & Happy Holidays from 99Perfume.

Sincerely,

Nick Kakar

President

I was under the impression that if you placed an order by noon it would ship that day. If that's not the case then I retract my issue with them. Nick is correct - UPS was not shipping ground on the Friday after Thanksgiving, therefore they did ship my order on the next shipping day after ordering. They had a good price on Guerlain Heritage and it arrived in good shape.

Just checking in to say that I did receive my order this morning from 99perfume.com, and all is well. I bought a bottle of Davidoff (1984), which is a hard to find discontinued scent, and I was impressed that I received a brand new, sealed bottle in the original box, and the bottle was 100% full. It may sound stupid to say I'm impressed with this, but I've purchased from two other online retailers that sent me bottles with broken atomizers, bottles that were half full, ripped and water damaged packaging, bottles that leak, etc..

Their price for this bottle of Davidoff was also very competitive, and I got a 10% discount using a discount code. So overall this was a good experience and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from 99perfume.com again (it was my first purchase from them).

Thanks again to Nick K for being a stand-up guy and coming to the forum, and my apologies to him for overreacting.

Perhaps in fairness to the man and his company, you could add "resolved" or something like that to the thread title?
Good point made by hirch_duckfinder. Let's see how things go from here on. If they are good or bad it can be reported truthfully by the customers themselves in a bump of this 'retitled' thread.
As the person who started this thread, my feeling is that the fairest thing to all concerned is to leave the thread as it stands.

Everyone has had their say, & no one has been censored.
Anyone who wishes can read through the thread & make up their own minds.

I am sure that 99perfume will be extra careful, at least for the time being;
especially with orders bearing the discount code that identifies customers as basenoters.
Possibly this thread has even had the effect of boosting, rather than adversely affecting sales as a number of members have placed orders as a result.

It will take a little longer to see how things shape up in the longer term.

Remember that there have been quite a few problems with this company in the past, & that mine was not an isolated experience.

If 99perfumes shape up, then great.
In the meantime, this thread can be bumped if there is anything more to say.

To say that the matter has been resolved would be to put words in the mouths of myself & others on this thread who HAVE had unacceptable & unpleasant experiences with 99perfumes.

That would not be right.

The matter has not yet been resolved one way or the other.
I have no agenda, having made the post to alert basenoters & to see what experiences others had of the company.
If things work out well in the future, then I will be happy with that.
In the meantime - It is still an ongoing situation.

I say - time will tell.
Just to add -

If people want to start a new thread on their own behalf "in praise of 99perfume" or whatever then fine.

Some folks would consider this situation resolved, & some of us not.

So please leave this thread as is.

Thanks.

I wonder if by using that discount code, we identify who we are and will probably get priority processing until that coupon code expires. Get in while the gettin's good I guess. We'll see what happens when the fragrance comes in.

Their prices without the discount aren't very competitive. But like all places, their prices are low for some things and high for others, seemingly random.

Got it! Quickly, inexpensively, pain free and smells great!

I added a comment in the "Big list of online stores" thread about this: http://community.basenotes.net/showthread.php?t=207117
post #72 of 171
I just wanted to add my 2 cents to this thread. I've ordered at least a dozen bottles of fragrance from 99perfume over the last few years and have never once encountered a problem with them. They have always shipped my items out the same day(or the following day if I ordered too late in the afternoon.) Items were packaged well and in good(fresh) condition. Granted, I have never ordered anything that was super hard to get or rare...but everything I have ordered has been in stock.

For fairness sake, I thought it was important to add my positive experiences so that people could have another perspective coming from someone who does a lot of online fragrance shopping from many, many different sites.

I will also, be taking advantage of the generous 15% off coupon. Thank you for posting it Nick and for attempting to rectify the situation.

I promised I'd report on my order and everything went quite well. The details:
I bought two Creed atomizers at a very good price, with the 15% voucher they came to roughly $33.98 for both.
Shipping was actually more, $35.99. That's alot, but it still worked out for me.
I got a confirmation mail about my purchase and a further one without any additional info. Tracking was not possible on an international purchase.
I placed the order Dec. 4 and it arrived today - as a registered packet from the UK ?! If they shipped it to the UK and then on from there I can understand the high charges - if they have a British-based warehouse they made a nice wad of extra money off me. But either way, this model saved me an odyssee to customs, which is easily worth the money. So - I am fully content, and one atomizer will arrive in time for Christmas as a gift .

Did I not get the inner office memo about 15% off for Base Notes members. What is that all about? Details would be appreciated.

See above post by 99perfume's manager. The code is BASE15 and expires Dec. 31.

Please show us the official US gov't website that says this.

For one thing, the VAT is a UK/EU thing. The equivalent in the US is a state and local sales tax, and as all Americans know, that only applies for shipment and sales in the local area (eg a Californian ordering online from a company with a physical business presence in California).
===========
Shipping fragrances internationally via USPS: It is possible to send say a 100 ml bottle of perfume via USPS registered international mail with an insured value of say $100 for less than US$29.99.

For example, notwithstanding Fragrancenet.com's occasional packaging problems, their shipment charge is half of 99perfume's and it gets to Australia in less than 2 weeks.

Not everyone requires international delivery via USPS International Priority Mail - which is expensive - and the problem is that if that's all that's offered - then it brings up the total prices of 99perfume's fragrances.
Every time I've ordered from fragrancenet (only online vendor I've used), I've had to pay the VAT in the Finnish customs office. VAT percentage varies among the EU states. And I'm under the impression that VAT is the sole responsibility of the buyer... :/

Hey guys,

Thinking about making a large purchase. Anyone have experience there?

99perfume-wholesale.com

Have dealt many times with this company having all good experiences. However my experiences have all been on the retail end and not the wholsesale.
Purchased. Will report.
I've been lurking here for several months now and I decided it was time to go ahead and register so that I can hopefully contribute something useful....

So I had been looking for L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme online and I couldn't seem to find it anywhere. I finally found it on 99perfume.com (7th page of the Google results I believe) and, much to my surprise, I was not ripped off. They're website is terrible, I never got a shipping confirmation, and every time I checked my order status it told me that my order couldn't be found. However, I bought with my AMEX and I've had great experience with them helping out on bad/stolen purchases.

A week and a half or so after I placed the order I got my two 75ml bottles in the mail. It was a blind buy so I could be wrong, but the juice matches every description I've read (truly excellent!) and the box matches the second picture in the recent "fake or not" thread. I also got 15% off on the order which came to a grand total of $114.07 after tax and shipping. Based on the eBay listings, that seems to be a great deal.

Two thumbs up for L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme and 99perfume.com!
Congrats! It is good stuff.

(just checked that website) Looks like you got the last two bottles! It now shows "out of stock"!
Nice 1st post plugging a website
Weird to 'plug' a frag that is out of stock though. (?)
You got my hopes up
Glad you're happy with your purchase.
Yea. I figured that may make me sound weird. However, part of my worry with ordering was that I only found 2 posts on basenotes mentioning the site and one was just the 15% code. So I figured I could at least add one post with my experience in case anyone else wonders.
Sorry it's out. It's been two weeks since I ordered. It's my only order from there so I have no idea if they restock often or ever.
Seems like every time someone finds a bottle of this online and buys it, it was the last one, and it becomes another place you CAN'T find the Extreme. (even my story was the same, though I don't remember who I bought mine from) Alas!
The obvious solution would be for Guerlain to sell it in their North American retailer stores. Oh, but I suppose that would make too much sense. My apologies, Guerlain; I thought you were in the business of selling your products to meet the demand for same.
Nice first post...Wish it was still available. $62.99, plus a coupon code would be an awesome price for this fragrance!

Guerlain boutiques in Canada (toronto and Montreal) typically get stock of about 30 bottles a year, put your name on a waitlist and they will mail them out to you. Its about $65 a bottle if I remember correctly.

It'll be back. It always comes back. I know when it does, it'll be on almost every website. I usually keep tabs on Strawberrynet, because I know they get it in stock every now and again.

Really? Dang... I am going to Vegas this weekend, and was hoping to pick up a bottle in the Guerlain boutique at The Venetian. Oh well... now I can waste another $70 at the tables instead! :P

Yea, I called that boutique before I looked online. The guy said they didn't have it then and they basically never have it. He even said his friend looked for it in Paris and couldn't find it. It seems weird that so many people have purchased it, it's not discontinued, and yet it's impossible to find.
I looked for about 6 months to get this and finally found it on amazon (now sold out). I too bought 2 bottle blind thinking I could sell one but I love it so much I am keeping both. Persistence is the key. Keep looking.

They were priced at $62.99 each and I picked up 2 . I also used the 15% off coupon, and upgraded to the 3 day shipping for $12. So my total was about $119 shipped.

I certainly will. IIRC it was 62.99 with 3 day shipping. The email is on my other PC so I can't check right now.

My brother picked up two bottles the last time it was available here (a day or two ago). He said after the 15% discount it was ~$57 shipped. We'll see when/if he actually gets them.

Just got off the phone with them. They spoke with their buyer and he/she didn't know when or if they will get any more. They ordered 100 bottles but only received 25 that sold out a few days ago. They suggested that maybe in two weeks to check again.
