Givenchy Xeryus

Hello, could someone please give me some info on the current version of Givenchy Xeryus (clear bottle, black cap)...to which frag is it similar? Is it in this current formulation still strong? If i like Kouros, G. Gentleman, Antaeus, Egoiste will i like this one?
Thanks in advance (for any info and help)!

Best regards

IMO Yes.

ok, but is it very different (scent-wise) from the vintage one or?
also is it in the category of the frags i mentioned before?

I may be wrong because I have only smelled Xeryus once, but I don't remember it being in the same category as Kouros, unless you mean in potency and strength. All I remeber is that I did not like it and it was one I was sure I was going to like.

Is xeryus in this formulation still very masculine or? what frag would be the most similar to it?

Decent frag IMO, but only you will know if you like it.

I felt it's sharp and powerful, definitely in the way 80's do!
I got similarities to Quorom...

Is the original still in production? I have a small sample of it but over here you can only get the rouge version.

I find it very masculine. The reformulated is missing some of the depth in green-mossy / fresh jasmine character of the original.

Related in character of scent to:

Valentino Vendetta pH
Halston Z-14 (pre-2011)
Simon Chang Maestro
Narciso Rodriguez pH
Italian Cypress

Xeryus is a classic 80's fougère. Not quite in the same league as Kouros & Co.
when it comes to power, but it's most definitely a force to be reckoned with.
This fragrance screams with an 80's roar rarely sniffed. Utterly, utterly unmodern,
but strangely still in production. Xeryus has its share of devotees, that's for sure.
I've never sniffed the Mythical version, only vintage - which can be bought for
the price of candy on the Bay sometimes ... so why settle for less?!

Xeryus Rouge is not a "version" of Xeryus, but an unrelated fragrance.

Prices for the vintage version have gone through the roof on ebay in the US over the last year or so. I have a bottle so I'm set, but I also have a half full spray 25 ml bottle up for swap or sale. It may begin a bit like a fougere but it ends as a woody oriental that doesn't have the syrupy, super sweet, or creamy qualities that often irritate me. The next formulation (which I think the OP mentioned) is too "bubble gum"-like for me.

Do you really get oriental from this? I associate orientals with vanillic accords, of which I don't get much in Xeryus. Though there is a slight amber feel...

Sort of an herbal/Chinese amber and exotic wood "oriental" rather than a spicy/patchouli/sweet Indian one, if that makes sense.

Vintage is very similar to Quorum to me. A blatant copy of Quorum i would say.

That is a very good comparison. Makes perfect sense.

Weird. I don't get tobacco or birch tar at all from Xeryus, which is basically all I get from Quorum.

I get the same herbs, moss, tobacco and leather from Xeryus. With one on each arm I can only smell a weird mint note from Xeryus right after smelling Quorum.

maybe it's vintage Quorum or something? because my bottle of Quorum doesn't share a lot with X.

My guess is the Quorum comparison is related to notes that last a few minutes or less.

I dig your descriptions as usual, Bigsly.

I think Xeryus is fairly unique, and was very unique for its time. I get a lot musk in the base along with the moss, herbal amber, etc.
