Need help appreciating Guerlain Heritage EDT

I just received Guerlain Heritage EDT in the mail yesterday. I smelled it on paper at NM about 1 year ago and I liked it. I sprayed it on my arm about 1 month ago and I liked it. So I ordered it.

Whats bothering me is that I am getting much more patchouli than I remembered. Even my wife stated that I smell like patchouli. When we would smell my arm where I sprayed, it doesn't have as strong of a patch smell. It is just the projection is heavily patch.

Now that this is in my head, I feel that I may never get over the patch smell.

Any suggestions? I want to give it a chance before I sell it because I don't own anything like it and have always wanted something similar to this.

I get a lot of patchouli too. The first time I tried it, this wasn't the case but now after fully wearing it about 3 times I would definitely classify it as a patchouli dominant fragrance, which is great if that's what you're looking for. I think it's worth having as I haven't yet smelled another Guerlain that is as heavy on the patchouli.

Give it a few wears.

The odd part is, I never et excessive patchouli notes from Heritage, the most lasting impression this scent leaves me with is of distinctive, almost heavy, woody, resinous, spicy notes, especially during drydown/once the base notes settle.

Yesterday when I first opened the box, I sprayed some on my arm. It was a bit out of the norm for a bit of juice to spray on the first pump. I am thinking and hoping that maybe the patch was so heavy yesterday because it was the first spray and may have been juice that was sitting in the tube and was less fresh.
Today it seems to be a bit less patch but maybe it is just in my head.

I actually dreamed about Guerlain Heritage last night.

With even more wears you'll be fine.

Give it time. Most frags smell different on me on different days, or maybe my sense of smell is different on different days.
Try one spray from a distance and see how that goes.
