Cheaper Alternative To LIDGE ~ Carven Pour Homme !

I revisited Carven Pour Homme recently, (not to be confused with Monsieur Carven).
CPH is absolutely incredible. It reminds me a lot of L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme. Both to my nose share that certain niche quality.
I would advise anyone who loves LIDGE, (but not the price tag) to check CPH out. They smell similar to my nose and are both high quality fragrances.

Carven Pour Homme smells a little bit like Zino Davidoff and Gucci Envy to my nose. I don't think it's that much cheaper either. There's another basenotes member that sells it for $70 to $80 a bottle. For that price I could almost buy a bottle of LIDGE.

I'm glad you brought this up David, but strangely enough, I don't find it is LIDGE that smells like Carven Homme. To me, it is the initial release, L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme that smells like Carven Homme. I find the Extreme just smells too much like dry cocoa to be all that close to Carven Homme. As well, it has more patchouli to my nose. But L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme is quite close. Which sort of makes you close

You're probably right, but it's a bit bizarre because I do not like the LIDG edt at all. To my nose it contains a funriture/shoe polish note, whereas I find the extreme version heavenly. I definitely love CPH, so I don't think I am making the connection between CPH and LIDG ? It's funny because silentrich makes a connection between CPH and Envy and Zino. I have both of these and don't make that connection at all !

I'm a bit shocked......Carven Pour Homme used to be dirt cheap on the net.......has it risen up in price that much ?
Last time I bought a bottle it was about $20 !!!

Yeah I actually posted a link last year to a website that was selling the 3.4 oz bottle for right around $20. I agree with you though that this is a great fragrance and I wish it was cheaper now because I ran out of my 3.4 oz bottle.

Same here. I prefer Carven Homme, it seems more refined. It's very hard to find in the UK now.

I also agree that it smells very close to Envy.

Have to try this, considering the fragrance similarities and also the fact that Carven is such an underrated fragrance house- with quite few (more or less) hidden gems.

Me too... and preferable at that.

To me, Carven Homme also shares some similarities with Rochas Lui.

Thankfully, I bought CH a few years ago for $20 (100ml). Only used bottles
are that cheap nowadays.

Seems like this is another example of limited availability and good reviews pushing prices up.
