Simply put which one do you prefer and why?

New Haarlem is just too sweet for my taste.

Pure Havane by a long way, could find it for much cheaper as well.
Definitely New Haarlem, but it is infinitely more expensive. It also has better longevity though (in my opinion).

I'd say it depends on when/where you want to wear it. Pure Havane is pretty versatile whereas New Haarlem is, at least in my opinion, less so. It's a thick scent that will get you noticed, question is do you want to get noticed wearing it. Although I didn't choose between the two, today I own Pure Havane and passed on getting New Haarlem.

I think New Haarlem is an acquired taste frag, not very useful either.

I think you are comparing apples to oranges.

I prefer Havane by a longshot though, but enjoy both for their scent.

New Haarlem, easily. I mean how are the two comparable?

Havane smells like a throat lozenge.

Havane, I find more unique as well as versatile. It Doesn't smell like its namesake Amen; and does what a flanker should do, separate itself. New Harlem is a nice scent that I feel I have smelled before, but I do want a bottle! I enjoy that maple sweetness but I just wouldn't trade Havane for it if I could only have 1.

I like both but prefer to wear Havane over New Haarlem.

PH for me also, but NH is good too.

I much prefer Pure Havane too.

I'm not a fan of New Haarlem's breakfast in a bottle. Pure Havane is nice, but it's not really a tobacco fragrance. More like a cherry vanilla.

Pure Havane of the two.
New Haarlem blows. Pure Havane is just tolerable for me.
Also, New Haarlem could be replaced by either Michael Jordan Legend or Rochas Man.

I'm yet to smell anything close to Pure Havane.

Pure Havane. Two years ago I would have said New Haarlem.

Put Givenchy Play Intense on that list. At least that has a really nice coffee note. RH is more green and sweet, and Legend is a sharp synthetic mess.
I tried Givenchy Play Intense. I tried to get into it, but all it really smells like is a very light waft of ground coffee. It's not bad, I like it, it's just not on the level of New Haarlem in my opinion.
New Haarlem in quality, longevity and overall scent, but Pure Havane is still decent in both of those categories while being much cheaper and more versatile IMO.

Pure Havane by a mile...
pure havane.
I actually would recommend neither. Have samples of both. If you like pure havane i'd recommend you check out pure malt. way better IMO, pure havane is a tad too sweet i think. Give michael legend a shot too. its super cheap (i got it for 12 bucks at ross), and it works way better on my skin than new haarlem does. the drydown smells very very similar to me, at leas on my skin. the synthetic smell on legend goes away after bout 5 min for me. For 1/20th the price you can't beat it. Between all of them i'd recommend pure malt. but if its strictly just between new haarlem and pure havane, i'd say new haarlem by a hair. i'd recommend Pure malt > Legend > New Haarlem > Pure havane

I own both, but find myself reaching for New Haarlem more often.

This is a tough call for me. I think New Haarlem is great in its simplicity- it's maple syrup with hints of coffee and a bit of a green opening. It just plain smells good.

Havane smells good, but it's more interesting. The fruity soda opening, dried into sweet tobacco, the pleasant candy feel that never gets to cloying. I'd have to go with the latter.

New Haarlem
I prefer New Haarlem out of the two. Pure Havane smells like a cherry lozenge, it is very syrupy. I was very disappointed with it.

i personally like Jordan Legend. $6 for 15ml of it on Ebay. Or you can buy a full bottle for <$20. You will hear both sides, good and bad. I think spending $6 to try it out isn't going to hurt at all.

Pure Havane.

I'll take Jordan Legend over New Haarlem any day of the week.

Pure Havane definitely

NH is just okaaaayy...too strong with the caramel, I prefer Pure Malt or Rochas or even A*men
post #36 of 36
Both are great. I lean more to Pure Havane though
