What Types of Colognes is My Collection Missing?

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I've been interested in fragrances for maybe 6 months or so, and I've kind of stalled in terms of types of fragrances I'm trying. Can you take a look at what I have now, and let me know any gaps in types of scents you see? And in those gaps, perhaps list a few good specific scents I should try in those areas?

My Collection (my rating out of 10 in parenthesis):
GIT (10)
LIDGE (7)
Nautica Voyage (1 -- cheap blind buy gone wrong)
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver (9)
Tommy Bahama Set Sail St Barts (7)
Hermes Concentré D'Orange Verte (9)
Guerlain Homme (6)
Gucci Pour Homme II (9)

I'm open to trying any type of scent. In general, I've found I don't like anything that folks would describe as "powdery." Thanks!!

What about Guerlain Vetiver, YSL Opium or Chanel Egoiste....

Your most liked tend to be on the fresher side, but still rich (ie not the hyperaquatic a la voyage).

I'd recommend something warm to try, I second Chanel Egoiste (the regular Egoiste, not Platinum Egoiste) for a warm sandalwood with some candied fruits. Then just to check you could try something darker and bolder, examples would be Aramis 900 (resinous patchouli), Bulgari Black (for the famous rubber note), or a leather, like for instance Estee Lauder Azuree or the muskier Aramis.

If you like GIT you should probably (if you haven't already) try more of the Creeds. Have you sampled Aventus, MI, Erolfa, SMW and Himalaya? They're all kind of on a similar vibe that might appeal to you.

If you like fresh
Amouage Honour Men!

Another category would be ambers.

And sample as much as you can, it's the best thing you can do if you are looking for a new fragrance...

Azzaro PH or Aramis Tuscany (which are variations on the same idea, try both to see which one of the two you prefer)
