Designer fragrance with SMOKY vibe

Hi all,

I am looking for a designer fragrance that has a smoky, incensy smell. The kind of smokiness I'm looking for is the one you find in YSL - La nuit de l'homme's dry down, or even in CH - CH Men, and not the one you get from Lalique - Encre Noire or Dior - Fahrenheit Absolute (which, to my nose, tend to be more into a churchy like incense than into smokiness). I would like a designer fragrance, because I can sample it before I buy it (which, with the majority of niche fragrances I can't). I'm anxious to hear your suggestions

From what I've read on other posts, Body Kouros seems to suits what I'm looking for (although I remember I sampled it some time ago, and didn't get it's smokines, at least at it's opening). It looks that there are some suggestions, I'm glad to hear more of them from you

Vintage Jacomo de Jacomo can still be had and is a smokey frag.

I dont really get the vibe you are describing from Body Kouros because it is tough for me to get past the Eucalyptus or whatever is so strong in the opening.

GPH1 is perfect for you.

I think some people are confusing smoke and incense. The OP specifically said he's not looking for churchy incense. Gucci Pour Homme (2003) and CdG Avignon are both excellent, but they're incense, not smoke. I wear Gph often. CdG is a little bit smokey, but it's more like when a candle gets snuffed out.

Amouage Interlude Man and Sombre Negra by Yosh are both smokey, but they're niche and probably hard to find. Seriously though, Sombre Negra is smmmmmmmmokey!

Honestly, at the designer level (meaning affordable and easy to find), I can't think of any really smokey scents. I actually came to this thread hoping to read a few.

No real experience in this, but from reading, GPH seems to fit. I feel like I have read that Michael for Men by Michael Kors is also another smoky fragrance.

One of the Aventus batches has quite a bit of ash to it. I'm not sure if that would be something you are looking for.

Goody2141, I own Michael by Kors and love it, but I think it's dark and very tobacco-like, not incredibly smoky. On the other hand, it's not really incensey either. Azzaro Visit is smoky, but a burning incense sorta smoke. I own Jacomo de Jacomo, and have owned and worn it for years (like, over 20, LOL) and there is some "smoke" to it, but tons of spice as well. Just a heads up.

Fille en Aiguilles , not designer , has that smokey vibe to me.
Chic for Men by Carolina Herrera also give me some kind of smokiness.

While it doesn't contain incense or anything, I get a smoldering, resinous, smoky vibe from Ted Lapidus's Black Soul. It's like a spicy take on the 1 Million type fragrance and strikes me as kind of a combination of 1 Million, Spicebomb, and Black XS. If you enjoy La Nuit, you might like this type of scent too (& it's very cheap).

I'm wearing Rive Gauche pour Homme today and it definetly emits a smoky vibe.

This one can easily replace Gucci pour Homme 1.
Smoke, pepper, cedar.
