Tips for a signature scent and winter/summer daily's

Hi,

Could you please help me with selecting a few (and possible a signature) scents? I am a male in my late twenties and I'm interested in scents which give a somewhat more professional impression. I have listed some perfumes below. Some are quite 'in your face', but I would like to have a few more subtle scents in my collection. Since most perfumes aren't readily available over here I would like to order some samples. To give an idea about what I like and do not like here are some examples.

Fahrenheit: I really, really love this scent. But in my opinion it is bold, intrusive and played to wear it as a daily or signature. I really like it, but people probably get rather quick fed up with it.

Allure Home Sport: Really love the scent after it has dried down. Really strong on the nose during application. I also find it very intimidating and harsh in the morning. Probably also during the day for most occasions.

Fahrenheit 32: Lovely scent, really like it. In my opinion also suitable as a daily wearer. Not really signature quality.

Hugo Boss for men: Gives me instant headache during application. Brr, hate this one.

Cool water: Awesome scent, although slightly to synthetic for my taste. To well known for signature usage. Also lacks depth.

Calvin Klein Be: Hate this one. Does somehow remind me of cat pee and toilet spray. Horrible.

Davidoff Echo: Neutral at the dislike side of the scale. It doesn't really click and irritates me slightly.

Versace Blue Jeans: It has been probably a few years since I have smelled it. Back then I did like it, but I don't have any idea how it smells anymore.

Jil Sanders Sun: Love this one!

I am searching for a more romantic sexy smell during winter. During the summer I would like to find a scent like AHS, but less 'sporty'. Something like F32 or Sun is also suitable. If someone knows a less synthetic version of cool water, please let me know. Does anyone have tips on which perfumes I really should try? Thanks!

For a professional work scent I recommend "Atlantic" by Strange Invisible Perfumes

You can read my thoughts on it HERE

I also recommend Uomo by Lorenzo Villoresi

For a less synthetic version of Cool Water, there's only one choice: Green Irish Tweed by Creed

For something that can cover all bases (professional, elegant, subtle, sexy) and can be worn all year round: Invasion Barbare by Parfum MDCI.

Good luck on your search!

For me, Gucci Pour Homme II is the embodiment of 'work'. It screams office, if not professional. It sort of smells like a lighter version of earl grey tea mixed with a tad of leather (not a dark leather). Once it dries down you get an office vibe. I can't explain it but it sort of smells office-y.

Get a sample.

Gucci Pour Homme II

YSL L'homme

Both of these can be worn all year long, and pretty much at any time. I'm planning on getting a bottle of GPH II soon, it will probably be the closest thing I have to a signature scent.

Surely Dior Homme merits consideration here.

I'd say give Spicebomb and Cartier Declaration a try. Midnight in Paris for nights out and the winter months. Bleu de Chanel might be a good work scent, as well as the mentioned Gucci Pour Homme II.

You have Tobacco Vanille in there twice. Maybe you meant Tuscan Leather for the second one? And you have Dior Homme three times, maybe Dior Homme Intense can be included instead/as well? Otherwise, large list, good luck!

If you like AHS but want 'less sporty', try AHS Eau Extreme. It's one which has gone under the radar but it's a great scent and perfect signature scent material.

I am sorry, I had it copied from multiple filtered lists. Some duplicates went under the radar. I have updated the list.

So it is not the extreme version of AHS? I find AHS already rather extreme.

It doesn't have the same citrus top note. It's named extreme but it is more musky as oppose to having the sharp citrus.

Hey, don't forget "Atlantic"...you'd be missing out!

Others I'd consider for work and all around scents would include Dolce & Gabanna Pour Homme (preferably the vintage version, but new one is still nice), Versace The Dreamer, and Chanel Platinum Egoiste. I think any of these three would work well for the workplace.

Yeah, I have to think about those, since they are quite niche. Maybe it is better to start out collecting some more available and less expensive perfumes.
