I've cracked this, I thought...

...as I diluted my latest formulation - posted in another thread - and sprayed it on myself for road testing. Wow! I thought. This is pretty great. I was still thinking that an hour later, right up until I realised I'd picked up the wrong pipette, the contaminated pipette, the one I'd used on the pure perfume oil sample of Prada Amber Intense that someone who works in a certain lab somewhere had given me.

Doh!

Your honesty is refreshing, and your mistake is amusing. I've been working for about 6 months on blending, and thus far haven't created anything really, really wonderful. Progress seems very slow. I'll just keep plugging away.

It's a massive subject. There's plenty of information available on the web, but it's pretty disorganised. A site that went step by step through the production of a simple, wearable fragrance would be good.

Something that gave the proportions of the accords, and demonstrated how adding one chem changes things, so people could see for themselves instead of working in the dark.

Perfumer's Apprentice used to have demonstration formulae, but that section's down atm

But if you ever come across such a site please post!

Edit: They still have some formulae for a few accords.

So, how does a person get into this group? I am definitely interested.
