What is your opinion of Aramis New West?

I was curious as to whether to add this to my collection, it would be a blind buy. Any thoughts?

An excellent aquatic for folks that tend to dislike calone-laced aquatics generally. It hides the calone extremely well. Great stuff, IMO.

It has many fans here on BN. For me it was a tad too herbaceous and the aldehyde's too strong. I over applied a few times and it ruined the scent for me sadly It's very strong and has fantastic lasting power. Definite try first.

THE only aquatic I have found that I can wear.

^^^^^ Agree.

I tried it and tried owning it It wasn't working for me. Left a huge trace of cedar and herbs and became quite linear in that sense. I'd say it's great if you like cedar and herbs, but it wasn't working for me.

It's a really nice fresh scent that to me works as a relaxing, anti-stress fragrance. It reminds me of the westcoast of Usa the only time i was there, and where i bought it from.

Honestly, I heard nothing but great things here...especially from people that I have found are normally hard to please on BN. So I was excited to try it...............................

I DON'T get it. Honestly it was like Glade Air Freshener. And not a good Glade Air Freshener. Maybe its the Aramis line...sans Tuscany... but I don't like this or any of them and to me it comes across as cheap. You can take that with a grain of salt since I like some hated stuff on here but to me this is a cheap room freshener.

An aquatic for people who hate aquatics. In other words, it's not an aquatic. It's herbal, aromatic, and somewhat sharp. Strong dose of lavender as well.

It's weird. The very first time I was looking for a fragrance, before my hobby began, I was at an Ulta store looking to sample stuff. I bought a bottle of John Varvatos, but happened to sample New West. Something about it stuck in my mind and 6 months later I bought a bottle. It's probably THE fragrance responsible for my hobby/passion. It smelled so different from anything else, I didn't know if I liked it or hated it.

Since then, I've sold it, because I'm not crazy about it, and kind of decided that I hate it (just a little bit), and also worry how it smells to others around me. But I miss it from time to time. I might get it again (only if I can find the blue bottle) for nostalgic reasons.

You should probably sample it first.

Thanks for the responses! I may purchase this one if I can find it cheap or possibly swap something for it.

NW was the last cologne I ordered blindly. I learned my lesson. It gets fairly good reviews here, so I decided to take a chance on it (since it's not all that expensive).

To me, it was just another example of how we don't all agree on this board...no matter what the fragrance is.

I sent it back immediately for a refund.

Don't care for it at all.

like this one a lot..

I had a 1 ml sample, and it was OK, but not quite up to "buy" status for me.
Here is an interesting review of it... scroll about halfway down the page:

Very good stuff indeed and one of the few aquatic fragrances worth experiencing, IMO.

I like it, but I haven't compared it to the 'new' juice on shelves versus the vintage juice I wore as a teen.

Not a good candidate for buying unsniffed, IMO.

It's not a bad fragrance, but it's not something worth going out of your way to purchase. It's old school stuff so if you enjoy the original Aramis, Polo, etc. you'd probably like this. Personally I would never wear it.

Overall I really liked the composition, but there was a really harsh, synthetic note to it that I just couldn't handle. Reminded me of something from the mid '80s--maybe Liz Claiborne or Iron by Coty. Couldn't get past it.

I'd recommend sampling first.

It's a really solid scent. You could do worse.

got a vintage bottle, I like it a lot! Could have been named California Per Uomo!

Bottleworthy - stands out within an oversaturated and largely uninspiring genre.

Like it. Not sure if I'd even consider it an aquatic, at least not a typical one, if not everybody else insisted that it is one lol.

Agreed-a "meh" scent among the good Aramis out there. Safe, tough!
