Encens Mythique by Guerlain

So I was wearing Portrait of a lady by Malle, and notice that it smells similar to Encens Mythique by Guerlain. They both have rose, incense and woody oud notes in them. The both also. Have a soft fruit note in them, POAL goes into a raspberry patchouli vibe, while EM goes with a orange patchouli ambergris vibe. POAL has like a oakmoss/wetwood type of a note which makes it a bit darker. EM has the ambergris which gives it a salty/beach type of note which makes this brighter. If you own both do a side by side. It's weird!!!! Thanks for listening

I own both and they seem pretty different to me.

PoaL lets the patchouli/incense/rose/rasperry combo speak loudly

Encens is a little more soft spoken, with a somewhat salty ambergris being the star.

I prefer PoaL by miles over the also quite good smelling Encens Mythiques but I get very different vibes from them both. Completely different kinds of scents, IMO.

I think my nose is playing tricks on me lol

I get rose and incense for EN, tho softer than POAL. I smell similarities... Maybe I have traces of EN on my leather jacket and I wore POAL today.

I own both as well. Personally do not get any similarities between them. I get a little bit of the rose, but nothing like POAL.

In this rare case, I prefer the the Guerlain over the Malle.

They're pretty different.

For one thing, the type of incense ,to begin with, in PoaL is different from the incense in Encens Mythique.

Then there is no patchouli in EM while PoaL is full of it.

I see no similarities really and I'm not nitpicking here.

It could be from wearing both of them too often that I get traces of one while I am wearing the other from my jackets. I could just be trippen lol

Enncens Mythique is one of those fragrances that while playing somewhat familiar accords, is still able to be completely unique. I adore this stuff. PoaL is good, definitely good but in the end, not my playground...
