Bond No 9 Harrods Swarovski Oud
By Kilian Pure Oud
Creed Royal Oud
Tom Ford Oud Wood
YSL M7
...and Montale Oud Cuir D'Arabie
I like Montale's Original Aoud.
by Kilian Incense Oud
Armani Prive Oud Royal
Bond No 9 New York Oud
Heeley Agarwoud
YSL M7

Brueckner Aoud 1 and Creed Royal Oud are among my very favorite fragrances, but I didn't include those, since I don't consider they are "Oud" fragrances, even if they do have some oud in them.
Portrait of a Lady
M7
Harrod's Oud
Black Aoud

I honestly can't even think of a 5th I really like (not much of an oud person). I will say that Montale's moon aoud is pretty weird and just bad in my opinion. I don't like Dark Aoud or Royal Aoud. Maybe L'Artisan's Al Oudh? I remember Wild Aoud was good too.

Harrods Oud HSLAMANE
Royal Oud
Dark Aoud
M7 Absolute
Pardon by Nasomatto

I bought that when it first came out in 2004, I didn't know anything about notes. It just smelled really good so I bought it. I got soo many compliments, I was so young and I wore it at my job Home Depot. Fast forward to 2009 I join basenotes everybody on this basenotes website was talking about it and this note called oud. Keep fast forwarding to 2013 it's probably the most used note in perfume nowadays. Thank you Tom Ford!!!! I love M7 it's more than just a Oud fragrance to me.

The New Guerlain Sounds Really Interesting.

Best oud / aoud will not be in the parfum / colognes - its the attars and pure oils.

Coming to parfums, my top 5 oud based are:

1 - Amouage's (again based on individual choice - more than 1 good oud parfum from this house)
2 - Montale's (based on individual choice - more than 1 good oud parfum from this house)
3 - Tied between - Tom Ford Oud, Nejma Oud One & Mona di Orio Oud
4 - Tied between - By Kilian's & Byredo's (both have more than 1 good oud based IMO)
5 - Tied - YSL M7 Absolu & Creed's Royal Oud
post #21 of 60
Oud may be my favorite note. It seems to do something for me. The best is oud oil of course...which I have smelled several of but have yet to buy in any quantity. Most all western fragrances are artificial. But I even like that...so there!

M7 is on most people's list as the first, but quite honestly I don't get much oud from it. Still love it though.

So in no particular order here are my favorites.

Dior Leather Oud - leather and oud wood smoke
Montale Black Aoud - rose with oud, a classic combo
Montale Dark Aoud - oud and sandalwood
Bond No.9 New York Oud - rose and oud again. Love this stuff!
Parfümerie Brückner Aoud 1- for lack of a better description sort of like Aventus (pineapple) with oud

Honorable mention: Black Afgano.
OUD IS
one of my favorite notes:

1. By Kilian Pure Oud......my favorite oud by far, so pretty.
2. Montale Dark Aoud.....exceptional take, uplifting, a tour de force.
3. Dior Leather Oud......I get cravings for this unique take with leather.
4. Amouage Epic Man........ I think of it as a frankincense fragrance first.
5. Tom Ford Santal Blush......may not quality as oud based but I lahuv what I believe to be oud in this.
6.Xerjoff Gao........too similar to, but inferior to Montale Dark.... maybe?
The best I've come across is the Acqua di Parma one, where the oud is beautifully integrated and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.
Vintage M7 by a mile
Petroleum by HdP
Black Afgano
It depends,
For clear Oud note, these are the best I have tried:
1- Roja Dove Oud
2- By killian Pure oud

For integrated oud note:
1- By Killian rose oud
I guess my love for oud is waning since I've sold off a bunch of my oud-centric fragrances.

My top five would be:

1. Leather Oud
2. Mona di Orio - Oud
3. Histoires de Parfums - Ambrarem
4. MFK - Oud
5. Amouage - Epic Man

As of right now,

Creed Royal Oud
By Killian Rose Oud
M. Micallef's Homme (Aoud)

I would like to try Montale's black oud tho, especially after trying and liking Rose Oud. Apparently, oud & rose work will together!

Agree that M7 barely has an oud note (I have a vintage bottle). It seems more to evoke the impression of oud, perhaps, with its bitterness and exoticism. But I think of it more as a slightly bitter/sour powdery amber. My own favorite fragrances with oud notes so far are Leather Oud, Dark Aoud, and Habit Rouge edp (in the red leather bottle). I need to give the By Killians another go, and the Acqua di Parma sounds promising.
YSL M7
By Kilian Amber Oud
MFK OUD
TF Oud Wood
Mona di Orio Oud
Interesting that people say Black Afgano is an oud fragrance. I don't know much about oud, having only tried MFK and Montale's Dark Aoud. I own Black Afgano. Is it really an oud frag?
keeping on mind that a lot of frags "contain oud" in these days...

YSL M7 (vintage or "reformulated")
L'Artisan Parfumeur AL OUDH
Montale DARK AOUD
Alyssa Ashley OUD POUR LUI.
i would say:

royal oud
m7
aoud 1
oud wood

although all of them are not so much all about ouds, i love how the oud is blended in them
post #38 of 60
I like new york oud by bond no 9, but i havent smelled much from this note
post #39 of 60
Inspired by this thread I sprayed some Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa Oud on a strip just earlier, and I have to say, I'm impressed. I get a rose-oud accord from it, which reminds me of a less-brash, much more tolerable (to me) version of Bond No. 9 NY Oud. I want to test it on skin, of course, but it could easily be FBW for me.

Yes. More like a Kilian oud however. The dry down resembles. Dark Oud as its dry and woody. Again good longevity.

I have never smelled any oud in Black Afgano but that certainly doesn't prove there isn't some in there. To me it is not an oud fragrance. Other reviewers say they definately smell oud. Previously Nasomatto has been reluctant to say what's in their formulations. Maybe someone else here has better information.
Well I love Nasomatto's Black Afgano, but I picked 5 fragrances that have the Oud note as the dominant note.

Mona di Orio Oud

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud

Armani Privé Oud Royal

Creed Royal Oud

Tom Ford Oud Wood

Akahina time and time again our tastes are the same, except Bruckner I have not tried that as of yet. New York Oud gets a lot of hate but the drydown is just amazing, it has a very living quality about it.

I dont think the Oud trend will die ever , once you have one oud fragrance your hooked for life. I started with M7 and I can easily say half of my fragrances are oud based or have some oud in them.

I sniffed Black Afgano again tonight. I think there is oud in it. All apologies.

Tom Ford- Oud Wood

In my opinion - some of the oud fragrances are too strong for me.

Montales - too much of a chemical scent
Guerlain - Songe d’un Bois d’Ete may be good, but then again too strong for me
Mona de Oro Oud - again...too much

From what I have tried, I like Creed's Royal Oud which is not only oud, but a toned down fragrance - it appeals to my nose.

I love some of the ouds when they are blended with rose, in particular:
Guerlain - Rose Nacree du Dessert
Histoire De Perfume - Rosam (basically only rose and oud.... masculine)

I have tried a few pure (Thai) oud oils from here (Bangkok) and they are ok, but I prefer them blended into perfumes.
My exploration continues...
I'm not really a fan of Oud. Smells like old furniture, and an older generation to me. But in the right blend, I like it.

These are my favorites:

Acqua Di Parma Colonia Intensa Oud
Creed Royal Oud
Amouage Interlude Man
Yves St. Laurent M7 / M7 Oud Absolu
Kilian Rose Oud
Pure Oud
Layer some Agar Aura or Oriscent oud oil with a spray of Creed Royal Oud. I am a fan of pure oud oils, but there are times when I go out in public that wearing them is not practical. I did not think that Royal Oud smelled too much like oud until a friend came over that had no clue what oud was. I had just sprayed myself dowm and happened to be burning some oud based japanese incense and she commented on how good and similar they smelled. Thumbs up from a lady with some good taste in her late 20's. If you have no clue about pure oud, get a high quality Cambodian or Indonesian oud oil and try layering it with one of the suggested fragrances. Do it right, and you fragrance will knock whoever smells it speechless...

+1. I could easily list this five times as my all-time favourite oud. It's not marketed as an oud scent, but it's definitely there in the dry-down. I like this scent as the oriental, incense-infused masterpiece that it is regardless of the oud note. But a superb scent.
