Tv+tl=

So, I've heard of people doing this in the past (layering Tobacco Vanille and Tuscan Leather) since the private blends tend to mix well together, but the last thread I saw was nearly two years old. That being said, I was adventurous and did the following:

I was at school today, so all I had was my samples of TV and TL, and I thought, "Heck, I only have two classes, I might as well try this," and I did. I sprayed one sample spray's worth of TL on my neck, then two sprays of TV to take away some of the leather harshness. What I was left with smelled kind of similar, but I couldn't place it. It wasn't until a few hours later I noticed the similarity to Cuirs by Carner Barcelona. It has that sort of sweet leather with odd stuff mixed in vibe that I get from it.

Anyway, I wanted to recommend this layering to anyone who has not tried it or is curious. I'm not one to layer usually, but this will be an exception.

What do you guys think of these two combined? On its own Tobacco Vanille is one of my favorite scents, and I find Tuscan Leather a little too strong on its own, but combined it makes for a fun scent that twists in a out of being gourmandish and being a very masculine leather.

When I was testing out both TV and TL at Saks the SA said a lot of people layer them and so I tried it out my wrist as he suggested. Couldn't stop smelling my wrist the whole night but I think the sweetness of TV tends to overpower the leather of TL. In either case, I own both today and will undoubtedly try that again when the opportunity presents itself.

Both are good frags but I would prefer to use them individually.

I also would not layer.

Tuscan Leather should be enjoyed on it's own. TV is to sweet IMO.

Really? I guess our tastes are just different, but I find TL a little much for my nose, especially with that strong leather note.

The only way I could finish my sample of TV was to layer it with TL. It helped to tame the cloying vanilla sweetness to my nose. But when I finally ordered a decant, I went with TL only.

Try it! It smells good together, only reason I do it though is because I don't want Tuscan leather to go to waste. I have a hard time wearing TL alone.

TV can be layered with many fragrances if you want the dry down to be rich vanilla. TV is one of my favorites.

Leather harshness from Tuscan Leather?

What'll you say if you try Bandit and Knize Ten ?

Glad you enjoy it! Me going out tonight and layering hommage a l'homme ( on neck and shirt) and Uomo Lorenzo Villoresi ( on wrists).

Probably that I don't like it. I'm not really a fan of leather fragrances generally speaking. To me, they need a little sweetness or some other worthwhile notes to round it out, otherwise I just end up smelling like a BSDM shop...which I don't see the appeal of.

To each their own.

Own TV and have a 8ml sample of TL from SA at TF counter (they gave me two full sample bottles last time I was in! )

Tried layering them but found it got a bit cloying, the TV does overtake the TL.

To be honest I prefer to enjoy these separately...
