Just wonderful. Thanks for this.

I've known about Eva Cassidy for many years now and, like everyone, when I first heard her sing, I couldn't believe my ears. Most who hear her for the first time say something like, "Who is THIS?!?!" And I was no different. Unbelievably, and sadly, I think she truly was one of the best singers in the world....yet hardly anyone knew of her or had the pleasure of hearing her sing.

She has many CD's out now. I encourage everyone to listen to them via iTunes or other digital music sources...where you can listen to clips from each song. Some of my personal favorites are Fields of Gold, Imagine, Over the Rainbow, Ain't No Sunshine, Time After Time, People Get Ready, I Know You By Heart, True Colors, American Tune, Danny Boy, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Drowning In the Sea of Love, The Letter, Autumn Leaves, You Take My Breath Away, Kathy's Song, Anniversary Song, The Water Is Wide, and What a Wonderful World.

Most people have heard all of these songs, but you haven't heard them like Eva Cassidy sang them. "Autumn Leaves" and "Over the Rainbow" are perfect examples. Just so beautiful...

Everyone really needs to hear her sing. To not hear her is to miss out on one of the best singers....ever. Not exaggerating.

RedR a friend of mine introduced her to me about 8 years ago. Needless to say I was in love with her voice from the first few bars of "Over The Rainbow" and wondered why I had never before heard her or of her. She is truly one of the best I have ever heard and I consider her to be on the same level as Streisand.

Yep, that's it. So effortless, but so beautiful. This goes way beyond simply singing a song.

She had the voice of an angel.

I love "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" but her version of "Fields of Gold" is my very favorite. I want them both played at my funeral someday.

I had just discovered her recently when I watched the movie "Love Actually" and her song "Songbird" was the music used in the bedroom scene with Laura Linney and Rodrigo Santoro. I thought her voice and the tune were both angelic and beautiful. While I personally would not go as far as to mention her in the same breath as Barbra Streisand, she did have a certain purity of voice that most other female singers lack.
