2012:
Precious Oud, Van Cleef & Arpel
L'Eau d'Hiver, Frederic Malle
Valentina, Valentino
Burberry weekend, Burberry
Obsession, Calvin Klein
Couture couture and Peace Love, Juicy Couture
Several fragrances from Demeter Fragrance Library

Lesson learnt: sample first.

Costume National Homme
Rive Gauche PH (yeah, I know it's liked by 80-90% here on BN)
Polo green (reformulation)
Azzaro PH (reformulation)

Plus a few cheap, powerhouse frags that didn't work out; Lapidus PH, One Man Show Gold, and Grey Flannel.

I sold the CNH, and am making a couple of decent swaps for some of the others.

Patchouli pour Homme by Reminiscence - Considering the price i was really disappointed, it doesn't smell bad but it smells nothing. I have never before experienced such a bland and boring scent, extremely weak.

Mustang, stuff gives me a headache, but for a $10 Big Lots blind buy I should have known..

It smells primarily like pachouli with hints of resin.

How is that boring? Its like ordering orange juice then saying orange juice tastes bland.

Laura Tonnato Albi: the lemon moss is nice at first, then the moss turns into a very fishy sort of scent thats a turn off after a while.

Also, Kouros which i swapped it over because the clove in there gave me headaches

Mont Blanc Individuel... I swear even Rochas Man with it's extremely short projection time lasts longer on my skin than this...

Thanks for your input. Yeah, it does smell like soft and cozy patchouli. But with not much complexity and extremely bad longevity and sillage. Compare this with Giorgio Beverly Hills for men and I think you will also feel that the Reminiscence is way overpriced. There are many other options as well that are better, I read that their original Patchouli is really good! Did you compare them?

Icy56, I get good performance from Individuel, too bad I really don't like the smell. Very sweet cinnamon and laundry, with some rasperry chocolate, way too synthetic smelling this one.

Givenchy Play Intense. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with the scent. It's good. I might even say it's very good. But Play Intense is basically Bvlgari Black minus the boldness and character that made Bvlgari Black a work of art. Gone is the rubber note and the long lasting drydown. Instead, Play Intense plays it safe.

How funny! I don't own Eternity, but I adore both Ungaro III and Fahrenheit (which I purchased in 2012). Of course, I'm a bit older than you are. I can't imagine a 21 year old wearing Ungaro III. Or maybe it's that I can't imagine others your age enjoying UIII...

Thanks, Oupavoc.

Yes for real, I don't know I tried MDO Oud three times before I bought it and liked it, but after I bought it I hated it after couple of wearings.

Mistakes so far:
YSL Pour Homme - I'm all for classics, but this is just "old man" on me
Caron Pour un Homme - Awful
Tom Ford Italian Cypress - I have it, I wear it occasionally, but for the king's ransom it cost me, I can't say I like it. Sad.

Antaeus - yeah that was not a good idea without throughly going through at least one sample vial first

Mugler Cologne - a great fragrance, just wasn't as great as its reputation

I don't get any mocha at all, considering the perfumer and how much people rave about it, I was surprised at how much this is just pure sweetness, the smell of candy floss without any of the delicious burnt sugar. Rochas MAN should be renamed Rochas Little Girl, it really is sickeningly sweet and nothing else.

I try to sample everything before i buy a full bottle, had i not, Bleu de Chanel and Dior Homme would have been the biggest disappointments ever considering the hype.

I get compliments on it, but I would have to say Calvin Klein's Escape on my skin. Smells like bug spray.

Prada Amber. Stupid blind buy.
Nautica Voyage. Never wear it.
