Looking for a new fragrance house, something out there. Help!!

Hey basenoters,

I'm tired of Creed, Tom Ford, and the like. There are so many great houses out there that I don't know about because they're rarely talked about, even when they deserve a spotlight. What's a good fragrance house that's rarely mentioned that's worth looking into?

Here are some that I like:

Dior- Dior Homme, Vetiver, Bois d'argent
Creed- GIT, Aventus, Silver Mountain Water
Le Labo- Poivre 23, Rose 31
Chanel- Cuir de Russie, Bois des Iles, Egoiste
Tom Ford- Tuscan Leather, Neroli Portofino, Tobacco Vanille

Something along the lines of Arquiste perhaps? Maybe this is just a weird ego thing on my part. But please humor me just for shits. Thanks very much for the help!

Thanks for the contribution, but all of those are pretty well known and widely talked about

Maybe? Haha. I guess it's more of the ego thing. I want to jump on a fragrance that not everybody knows of.

Have you tried Les Déserts d'Orient line from Guerlain? I think they did a very good job there, they are well worth seeking out.

Heeley is an interesting line, they have one of the best modern leather fragrances in Cuir Pleine Fleur, and their other stuff is interesting if you like sleek, streamlined fragrances.

Then there's the indie darling Imaginary Authors. I didn't find anything I liked, but it's getting good press & reviews, it's new and interesting and certainly not boring!

Lostmarc’h is a French line that doesn't get much attention. Their fragrances are quiet and pleasant, good quality and well worth trying.

I'd explore the barbershop houses eg. Crabtree & Evelyn, Taylor of Old Bond Street, Trumpers, Pinaud Clubman. Lots of hidden gems there and you won't have to spend niche money.

Xerjoff 17/17 line, created by very underrated Jacques Flori, is amazing. Check it out.

Loewe
L'Occitane
even good old trustworthy Caron
Acqua di Parma and Acqua di Genova
Knize
Farina Gegenuber
Van Cleef & Arpels
La Martina
CDG
Aramis
Gres
Yardley

Most or all of the fragrance houses mentioned above may have at least 1-2 underrated scents which might be worth some thorough testing.

I'm currently sampling Floris, Trumpers, Czech & Speake, Dipyque, Etat Libre d'Orange... all well worth some investigation!

Micallef might be a good choice for you...

+1 on Slumberhouse and Imaginary Authors.
I'll add Olivier Durbano.
Although they used to be discussed a lot, Lorenzo Villoresi and Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier have been a bit under the radar in recent years. (Probably because their recent releases haven't been that interesting, but they are still great houses with many great offerings.)
