Top 40 Designers

Marc, Robes08, on Youtube made a video of his top 100 designer fragrances, and I like that a lot. I'm now going to make my list of top 40 Designers.

The numbers on this list aren't of utmost importance. For example if fragrance Y is at 23 and fragrance Z is at 18, it doesn't mean fragrance Z is automatically much better, but overall, the higher the number, the more I like it.

My list is probably missing a few. Some out of forgetfulness and others because I haven't sampled a few things.

40. Kouros
39. Terre D. Hermes
38. Bulgari Blv
37. Bulgari Aqua
36. Givenchy Pi
35. Givenchy Play Intense
34. Bulgari Black
33. Polo Green
32. Polo Blue
31. Armani Code
32. Live Jazz
31. Mont Blanc Legend

30. Dior Homme Sport
29. Chanel Allure
28. Hanae Mori
27. L'Instant de Guerlain
26. Body Kouros
25. The Dreamer
24. Midnight In Paris
23. Issey Miyake Sport

How can 1 Million be on top 10 on both of your lists. This is impossibru!
Also how is Amen higher rank then Pure Malt? Double Impossibru!

So you really love Kouros, huh?

It's all very subjective and impossible for me to enumerate.

It's not all subjective. Saying 1 Million is a better scent than all the great Hermes, Caron and Guerlain classics is - atleast almost - objectively wrong.

While I don't agree with quite a few of your choices, I find myself saying "I guess I can see where he might be coming from" to a lot of your suggestions, so in that regards it's a good list. A few issues, however, really have me perplexed:

- M7 @ number 1? Are you using the mythical vintage juice and it's that much better? I blind bought the current formulation (one-amber-sided bottle) and it's bloody ordinary.

- Where's Eau Sauvage? Any of the other Hermes (Voyage Parfum is exceptional)? Mugler Cologne would definitely be in my top 10 also.

- I'm most surprised, I think, that no CK frags made the list. Granted most of their offerings are utter tosh, but Obsession and Obsession Night are really quite good.

Maybe we could all use the frags in noir's list to make our own pseudo top ten - the 'top ten of noir drakkar's top 40 designer frags'.

Mine would be:

1) Egoiste
2) TdH
3) Encre Noire
4) Rive Gauche
5) L'Instant
6) Body Kouros
7) Kouros
8) Live Jazz
9) Acqua di Gio
10) AHS
