Acqua Di Gio Essenza

Hi everybody I was in a perfume shop the other day and I saw both the edt and essenza and I was wondering which one would be the better buy I already have the original and love it but I know there were a lot of reformulations and I heard that Essenza is the closest to the way it used to smell. So the thing I want to know is what would be better buy, is essenza better in terms of projection and longevity or would I be better buying the original? Thanks for the help.

Acqua Di Gio Essenza is equally IMO satisfying in terms of longevity and projection.

I have Essenza and like it. I a/b'd EDT and Essenza many times pre-purchase and thought that Essenza was the clear victor in terms of projection, longevity and scent.

Not my experience but I suppose everyone's skin is different.

Essenza smells close to the original, but without the sharp note.

At the risk of repeating myself over and over, me too.

EDIT: As a result of this thread, I am wearing ADG Essenza at work today. Wow. It is amazing. I always forget how good some frags are when I neglect them for a while. That, in and of itself, is a good reason to do a forced rotation.

I have about a dozen fragrances I have purchsed since getting back into this hobby prior to Christmas. FWIW, I have to say that Essenza ranks right up there. For me, better than:

1. Dior Fahrenheit
2. YSL Rive Gauche
3. Chanel Platinum Egoiste
4. L'Occitane Eau des Baux
5. Paco Rabanne 1 Million
6. Fresco

I would put Essenza among the following favorites:

1. JPG Le Male
2. YSL La Nuit
3. Davidoff Cool Water

I have A*Men Pure Malt, Kouros and Yatagan on the way.

Yes -- I know -- all "over worn and overrated" scents according to many here. That's ok though -- it's me who is wearing them.

Essenza makes me feel good. It seems to instill confidence. I really like it and have to wear it more often. If you're anything like me, you will not regret this purchase. As a bonus, girls go nuts over this. At least the ones with whom I have come into contact.

Wore it yesterday. I have dry skin and it lasted 10+ hours on me. Received several compliments throughout the day.

More complex, mature than the initial ADG - in my opinion, plus, I also had good experiences with its longevity.
