Some help for a blind buy under 50 dollars.

Hi guys, my sister's ordering me a present and obviously I want a fragrance. I currently have Burberry Brit, YSL La Nuit de L'Homme Perfume and Blue de Chanel. These are all rather darkish night-fragrances imo. I'm looking for an every day light fragrance that is still classy. Nothing too sporty/aquatic. Something spicy would be nice.

I was thinking L'Homme by YSL but I'd like to start collecting and I'd rather try something new rather than the day-version of a fragrance I already own. But I am thinking along that vein. Classy, sophisticated, sexy.

Help me out guys?

Mugler Cologne is light and classy. It's usually a little over fifty dollars depending on size, but I just saw it advertised for less than that at an online discounter.

I just noticed that you're really looking for two different scents.

"an every day light fragrance that is still classy," and

"Classy, sophisticated sexy."

Those two categories can overlap, but the colognes I'd put in the first aren't necessarily the ones I'd put int he second.

For example, someone mentioned Le Male. I don't dislike it, but I would not consider it an everyday light scent at all, though you might think it's classy, sophisticated, and sexy.

Zino by Davidoff, Heritage by Guerlain, Rive Gauche by YSL, Caron Pour un Homme, Eau des Baux by L'Occitane

+1 for Mugler Cologne.
+1 for Live Jazz (esp. w/ summer coming up)
I'll add in: Gendarme (original)(seen on eBay for under $50)
Lanvin L'Homme. Also can be found online for under $50
Chemistry by Clinique. Always $40 from Clinique counter, very fresh and spicy, but you gotta like ginger.
Chrome by Azzaro. fresh day scent. Quite popular, but I find the tea note here on par with Creed's SMW

Hope that helps.

Gutsy list, FullCollapse. We must be kindred spirits of sorts. I love all the ones you mentioned, but extended consideration of lighter offerings for the OP. Variety is the spice of life.

Love & Luck. Ignore the packaging; it's a great fresh scent.

The ultimate no risk blind buy under $50 for one who has not tried it is Mitsouko EDP, my all-time favorite by Guerlain.

Definitely not a blind buy for the average Joe, IMO.

I genuinely second, amongst the previous suggestions, Mugler Cologne, Live Jazz, Versace Dreamer and Rive Gauche

Would also like to add Lanvin Vetiver and Azzaro Visit

If you want spice then look at Obsession for Men. It can be worn during daytime. It is one of the few fragrances where 1 spray is all you need.

What about Aramis Havana? Very spicy and last I saw, the 100ml bottle was under $50

No risk? Whoa, no way. I love Mitsouko on women, but on men . . . not saying you can't wear it, but I'd say that's just about the riskiest blind buy imaginable.

Even in the category of fragrances-marketed-for-women-that-maybe-a-man-can-wear, I'd say Shalimar is much safer, and even that isn't safe at all.

No mentions of Body Kouros? Really?

I would take vintage Kouros over Body Kouros.

But that is harder to find, and over $50.

There are too many fake BK out there. I got stuck with one.

A 100mL bottle of BK can easily be found on FragranceNet, Fragrancex or any other discounter for less than $40. Picked mine up from FragX for $38
