Morning!

Always intrigued when I see the boys mention Micallef. Now I see that Aus Liebe Zum Duft/First in Fragrance have a large selection including Discovery sets, for those of you who may be interested.

Have to pop into town today. I'm drawn back again and again to Armani Privé so will swing by there.

Morning All,

Foustie: Micallef is a line I've not sampled much from. I do own the discontinued Yellow Sea: a creamy citrus with a nice dollop of castoreum in the base.

Tonight we have our Perfume Lovers London meetup, the theme this time being roses. Looking forward to plenty of sniffing and spritzing and socialising.

Eau de Patou for the day.

Best to everyone.

Hello everybody,
Have a fantastic meetup, G.!
Sending warmest thoughts and wishes Mike's way today!
It cleared up (gosh, it literally hurt my eyes to see sunshine) today, so my timing is right for Sous le Vent.
The weather forecast sees temps like 16 degrees possible in a week's time. No excuses! It's booked.
Best to all

Gandhajala your meetup sounds so lovely, enjoy and do report back please.

SOTD is YSL Cinema, discreetly applied, for an interview later today. Any and all job-getting vibes welcome.

Best to all.

Morning all!

l only tried Note Ambree from the Micaleff line; a very nice, slightly floral amber. l decided l wanted to try Yellow Sea just as it was discontinued, & so l missed the opportunity.

l'm wearing Ghost again today, & l'm off into town to get my hair done, maybe do a little shopping, & then meet my bf for a drink or three.

Have a great day, all!

Edited to add; good luck to tdem & mike for today!

Best of luck, Tdem !

Sampled the vast majority of the Micallef line at one time or another - Gaiac is the only one I own, though I do plan to retest Shanaan. Not wildly impressed with much else, and the bottles are the epitome of tackiness IMHO.

Wishing all the very best to Terry with the interview, and to Mike for today's big move.

SotD is Green Irish Tweed.

Enjoy your rosy evening, G - let us know how it went.

Good morning! I'll try posting again, the first time didn't work.

I've tried two from Micallef, Vanille Orient which was a cozy vanilla and Ylang which was a sweet tropical floral, both very nice.

Best of luck today to Mike with the move and to Tdem with the interview.

Have a good time, G, an evening with roses sounds lovely.

Wearing Guerlain Oriental Brulant today.

Have a good day, everyone!

Good morning, everyone!

Many good luck vibes to tdem!

Enjoy your day, teardrop sounds like a fun one!

Jealous of gandhajala's day, again .

Starting this morning in famous 30 Roses pick me up - L'Artisan Fleur d'Oranger. And it's working!

Good luck to Mike and Terry. I hope everything goes well for you today, in your respective corners of the world.

Have fun tongiht, Dr. G. Roses! That sounds lovely. I hope you will report back.

Hednic, how do you like Escale a Parati? I think I'll go read about it.

I'm pretty sure the only Micallef I've tried is Gardenia, which is vanillic, and lovely.

This morning I am sampling Narcisse Noir, the current edt, as I supposedly do my household chores and which I cannot seem to get motiviated to do. I must at least vacuum before the dog starts coughing up dust bunnies. Then I will reward myself by showering off the NN. Love to everyone.

Hi everyone! It's a lovely sunny day here and I feel energized.

I'm also wearing an energizing fragrance, YSL In Love Again. Love those grapefruit and blackcurrant notes!

This one was discontinued, reissued (with a new cap, same fragrance), re-discontinued, re-reissued (with a new bottle), and at this point it still seems to be available, at least on the YSL website. There are similarities in the top notes between this one and Ellena's later creation, Rose Ikebana. In Love Again is linear and after its initial cheery blast (in a good way), it fades slowly away.

Good morning. It's getting colder here, people are talking about snow (snow?) this weekend. Just remember I never complain about summer, LOL.

L'Artisan Mechant Loup today, big bad wolf. It does not smell like a wolf.
Since I still smelled my Arquiste Anima Dulcis from last night, I just put some more on. More is better!

Good luck Mike and Tdem!

I've been reading a book of chocolate recipes by La Maison du Chocolat, which was my favorite chocolate shop in NYC back when I lived there. This book came out in 2001, so it isn't new, just new to me. I found it browsing my local public library. Anyway, it's a treat for a chocolate lover, this book, and in it Robert Linxe, the creator of La Maison du Chocolat, likens his compositions in chocolate that of a composer in music. And there is a quote by Jean-Paul Guerlain, who likens the composition of chocolate to the composition of fragrance, and I wanted to share it with you...

"Blending a chocolate is just like making a pefume - seeking the balance is everything. In fact, I have even made perfumes wtih a hint of cocoa in them. And, like the chocolate-maker, the art of the perfume-maker is entirely manual: I'm not a chemist, I'm more like a cook, experimenting with flavors and mixtures...And if you close your eyes, what trace does a woman leave? A scent, a taste..."

Jean-Paul Guerlain

The same could be said of a man...that he leaves his trace. I wonder what perfume JP Guerlain created with a hint of cocoa? I love coming upon perfumes references in unexpected places.

Will this be on the test? ^^^

Surf Wisconsin!
Catch the curl coming off the garage roof this morning (at glacial speed).

Hope everything goes well for you today, dearest Mike.

Tdem, who wouldn't absolutely LOVE you?

To qualify for free shipping at Amazon recently, I added on a bar of Pré de Provence peony soap, which I haven't had in a long time. It arrived. I melted at the scent. Now I want to wear a pillow-soft peony. Luckily, I have a sample of Rocher's Désir de Natur, and it's close to the delicate floral feeling I want. Notes: mandarin, mint, daphne, LOTV. I used to own a bottle of this, but gave it away because after a time, I get kind of a soapy taste at the back of my throat. If I just don't think about that, I love DdN.

Back from vacation and on my first day back I decided I needed something that would kick me in the butt. I went for Bandit and it's still kicking my butt. Seriously, this stuff has some serious ass kicking power. Good thing too because my entire day back has been dealing with exactly that.

Wow, that is some curl you have going on there Quarry!!

I have the 1998 (Harlequin cap) and the 2004 (hammered gold cap) versions of In Love Again, which smell alike to me; I haven't seen the latest version anywhere in stores, but if I do, I will definitely try it. The notes of the latest version are a bit different. On Fragrantica most people like the update and say it lasts longer.

Good Luck to you today Mike.. I am thinking about you, believe me!! Tdem, I hope that you knocked their socks off.

Thank You for the hints and tips about the Micallef line. Hmmm.

Ponging gloriously of BOTH Rose D'Arabie and Bois D'Encens or whatever you call it, from Armani. Both fantastic!

Best of luck, tdem! They'd have to be nuts to pass up a chance to hire you!

Hope the move is going seamlessly, Mike!

Welcome back, elizrj!

Enjoy smelling those roses, G.!

Sampling Winter Delice, discontinued from the Aqua Allegoria line. Of course it is; I love it. This is the prettiest and most elegant Christmas potpourri ever.

Q, that pic is awesome!

Thanks Whitefluffy! l've had a nice day out, my hair is freshly cut & coloured, & l finally got around to sniffing Stella McCartney's L.I.L.Y & L.I.L.Y Absolute, on paper only. The former is a very "white", clean, laundry-esque fragrance, not really very floral, & eight hours later, although it's still going strong on the scent strip, there's no sign of the promised mossy note. The latter is softer, more recognisably floral, slightly oriental & smoother-edged. l much prefer the Absolute version, but l probably won't go out of my way to try it again.

SOTE is Stoned by Solange.

Hi, all. Thanks so much for the get-well wishes the other day. Diagnosis was bronchitis (again). That's three winters in a row now. Ugh. After the flu in January and bronchitis in February, I'm hoping to be illness-free for a few months.

I was sans fragrance both Tuesday and Wednesday and only just now dabbed on some Ramon Monegal Cuirelle for a re-test. My sinuses must still be tender, though, as it's giving me a bit of a headache. But that's the bronchitis rather than the Cuirelle. When I tested it last weekend, it was lovely.

((((Mike))))

Congratulations, Tdem!!!
