...got my first L'Artisan fragrance through the post yesterday. It's only a hand-bag sized bottle of Timbuktu. Finally, I understand the sweet vetiver, patchouli and incense. The ingredients really ooze quality in this. And it's lasted right through to today, meaning I can't detect today's SOTD, which is Green Irish Tweed!!

Pascal Morabito: OR BLACK
(50 ml Voyage/Travel size)

Just received this and think it's a great fragrance from initial spray to dry down.
I'm very impressed with Or Black and the Pascal Morabito customer service as well!
Or Black could be a signature scent, if I had one.

Picked up some "vintage" 2010 Dior Homme. It seems strange using the word vintage but things change so often here it could mean anything older than last week.

I was lucky to get hold of some Gems yesterday, I was hunting down already these beauties for quite some time Amazing Stuff;-))

Cartier - Le Baiser du Dragon Perfume

An amazing scent that starts with an amaretto Neroli combo-accord, sinking into a heart of Iris and Gardenia, drying down into a Vanillac ,Musk, Sandalwood base.
An Absolutely Exquisite Fragrance, IMO The smell of Luxury!

Joop!- What About Adam
This Gem was sadly discontinued back in 1999, Created by the FIFI Award winner: Clarice Becker back in 1997, Clarice is one the best Noses available currently, just to give you a glimpse of her Creative Talent:
- She is the nose behind Christian's Dior Monster J'Adore
- Clarice has also created most of Kilian's Fragrances.

Back to What About Adam, it opens with a Spicy zesty Grapefruit, mint, Lemon, tomato leaves Accord, developing into a heat of Lavender, Geranium and Sandalwood and innocently keeping the best of the symphony for "Le Grand Finale": Vetiver, Oakmoss and Vanille concludes this Green Opera.
The bottle, I was lucky to purchase is a tester, therefore the cap is not the original one ,the Juice remains pristine, fresh.
To my Nose What About Adam is simple and plane: The Green Heaven

Gucci - Rush Men,
Sadly Discontinued, since 2002, Gucci Rush for Man is a very woodsy, dry, Masculine fragrance. I would put this gem in the same realm of: Amouage-Epic Man, and Le Labo Rose 31( due to its dryness).
A spiritual walk though a dry forest in the summer, in this forest, there were not much of a green vegetation as it was high summer, the Juniper trees were drying out, rain has not fallen upon the earth in months, the Cedar trees were also suffering from the absence of rain.
Unfortunately at the certain point, a ray of light felt from sky and had sparked a fire in the forest.
I can definitely understand the non Mass appeal for this fragrance:
- It was too Avant Garde for 2000, by the time the entire planet was being invaded by "The Sport and Aquatic Fragrances", while Gucci Rush was presenting the World with a different approach;
- Its bottle does not translate the scent's idea, as a white bottle will suggest a clean fragrance, Gucci Rush is everything but clean, to my nose Gucci Rush is Woodsy and Smoky, I am very glad to welcome back this beautiful fragrance in my collection.

Jean Paul Gaultier - Fragile EDP

Created by the Master Parfumeur Francis Krukdjian - Fragile was inspired by Tuberose reference Fragrance "Fracas" however fragile, is a discreet, clean and polite compare to most of Tuberose based Fragrances currently available in the market.
While mainstream tuberose based fragrances on their majority are rounded by a coconut accord, fragile goes another path: Raspberry leaves and oranges, another point that sets Fragile apart from most Tuberose Fragrances is the absence of the Narcotic facet present on Tuberose - Fragile is the Angelical sister of Fracas.

Decided to get Azzaro Chrome for the spring: $15 at Walmart for a half-ounce travel spray.

And yes, I checked the box, and this particular bottle still has real oakmoss. But I don't think it will for much longer... with the IFRA police in full force, will my Chrome be considered "vintage" in a year or two?

It arrived this morning via FedEx.

It came with the whole package wrapped in a thick black plastic bag (possibly new regulation to prevent leakage?). It had several stickers on it (apparantly to identify the type of material inside). It also included some International Shipping Documentation (not sure if that was there before the regulations).

When I purchased last year, they sent in the same heavy black plastic bag, then the bottle was packed ever so nicely in a very large black box.

I guess the stickers are new. Now that they are using Fedex, shipping is 58.00 to the US . When I purchased the last time, they had free worldwide shipping, so I guess we won't see that again.

Trumper Sandalwood, not entirely sure about this one yet, frankly, or if I'd agree that it can compete with Egoiste in any shape or form as some reviewers seem to suggest, and Diptyque L'Ombre Dans L'Eau.

Basala by Shiseido,

Basala an olfactory experience,

An aromatic blend of lavender, bergamot enhanced by Artemisia and Basel (the lavender remains throughout the entire composition)
Fir, cinnamon, caraway, carnation and jasmine are masterfully mingled, setting an introspective mood, which are sweetened by coconut, and real oakmoss (by the time Basala was conceived the strict IFRA regulations were not yet implemented, real oakmoss adds depth into a concoction, unfortunately at his point in time there are no aroma-chemical able to match the rich qualities of real oakmoss), the leather accord, amber accord and musk are underscored by hints of patchouli, and cedar wood, finishing this olfactory extravaganza.

Basala,

A Self-discovery Journey: East meets West
Your vessel: Basala
Destination:Unknown
Departure Harbor: Caldey Island

Basala, The Scarlet Vessel is about to departure, this is a self discovery journey, ahead of us, open oceans.
Our journey starts, the robust and fresh Northern Atlantic winds, start to propel us, soon we will be sailing along the formidable African cost, from the window of our cabin, we gaze at grandiosity of the ocean, the omnipotency of the Atlantic Ocean touches us.
In the middle of our journey, our vessel starts to experience the dark forces of nature, we have reached the point where the Atlantic ocean meets the Indian Ocean, the waters are turbulent.
We found ourselves at the mercy of the majestic and powerful currents, a dark aura envelops our vessel, we retract into ourselves, we feel small and vulnerable.
Suddenly the Ocean becomes gentle once again and our fortune changes.
The skies open up, the sun starts to warm up our souls.
We feel an atmosphere of cohesion, connection takes place, we and the elements are one, We are One!
We are about to reach our final destination, we can already feel the exoticism of the new land, mysticism is in the air...
Our journey ends, we have arrived at our destination, it is now full circle, East meets West.

I've got three from the line so far, but not Lavender Amber. At least not yet. I was returning Gucci Pour Homme II (one of the benefits of buying from Bloomingdale's) and I wanted something else with that tea vibe. I really enjoyed Earl Grey and Cucumber when I tried it before so I veered in that direction. I have to say though, Jo Malone Vetyver is a really interesting scent, and there's another ' cologne intense' line that's worth trying, some really nice fragrances there. Unfortunately, I think the problem is that you get what you pay for. These do not last that long and don't have great projection, but the asking price is below that of Creed/Bond/Tom Ford, etc., so, again, I think you get what you pay for with these.

I agree, JM Vetiver is nice and I use to wear it. It always smells great and works for any situation. I need to get some more.
