I ask because the big excitement over Tom Ford's Noir when to me it just smells like baby powder.

I like some Avon powder-like scents but they have been around for a w
hile.

Am I just imagining things or are there more and more "powder" scents out there?

There are their fair share for sure.

Excitement over TF Noir? I was under the impression that it was a huge flop.

agree, TF Noir is a huge flop to my nose

Tom Ford could do a lot better than that

Overly powdery fragrances are catching up to overly soapy fragrances. *sigh*

I've had it shoved under my nose on at least a couple of occasions and told by an SA how good it smells. I politely smell it and just say "no thanks, not for me". Based on the push at retail I can see how some people are Jedi mind tricked into purchasing, thus making it successful from a business standpoint.

This trend seems to have been quite pronounced in the past and, like most trends, is returning.

In my opinion, returning with greater force, since recent releases in a powdery style have been more numerous and also more popular lately.

Exactly, since M7 Oud Absolu with its annoying powdery construction I don't question this fact.

We're not in the era of powdery. Just in the era of poor vernaculars.

Right now I feel mens scents are all over the place. The aquatic era is starting to loose its grip. Oud is trying to take center but can't get a firm grasp on the wold market.

There are several popular powdery scents, but I wouldn't call it an "age." I'd say this is far more of an "aquatic" or "blue" or "herbal fresh" age than a powdery age, and there could be arguments against each of those classifications as well.

Noir leaves me unmoved right now, but I always try things at least twice with a few months interspaced.

Not in age of powdery, but rather the age of Synthetic.
