VC&A Midnight in Paris Blindbuy safe?

Hello

I'm really intrigued by this and the price is great ($30 for 125ml edt). I personally like sweet fragrances, I also kind of like powdery scents (think Brit, YSL L'homme). I've read a lot of good things about it. Of the few fragrances that I own and really liked, I think this one is quite different from all of them (DG The One, A*Men, L'eau Dissey, London, Brit).

anyways, I like woodsy scents, a little powdery is nice, and I don't really want anything summery/citrisy and I don't think this fits that bill.

my last blind buy was Hanae Mori HM and it turned out well, not a homerun but definitely a 4/5 fragrance, so I'm 1/1 in blind buys so far. and I definitely want this to be another crowd pleaser

oh and my alternative that I've been eyeing for a blindbuy is Versace the Dreamer. I remember testing it once in a mall a long time ago but the memory is very vague... I don't think I hated it, but it was so long ago that I don't remember what it smells like at all anymore.

ps: I'm in my mid twenties, very casual profession

Do not blind buy Dreamer as I did...it's garbage

I find MiP okay, even good, but nothing special. It's a pretty safe blind buy for a younger bloke, for sure.
I've only tried the EDT, though.

MIP is about as safe a blind buy as you'll find. I think it's far better than The Dreamer (not worth owning IMO even though it's on my collection).

I've been debating blind buying MiP for a while now, haven't got round to it yet but think I will. I live in central London ad still have not come across this to test!

As for the dreamer, personally I think this is a very unsafe blind buy and would strongly advise trying it first as it's a bit like marmite from my experience (people either love it or hate it).

This thread has just inspired me to buy a sample on eBay (£2.99) of Midnight in Paris.

Always best to try before you buy, if at all possible.

MiP is a great blind buy. The EDT is good, but I think the EDP is much better.

Not a great blind buy in general as some will find it too powdery and feminine. I personally LOVE MIP EDP.
$30 isn't much money to part with so in this case it's worth the gamble...but I can see why some might not like this fragrance.

I'd consider it a safe modern sweet versatile metrosexual fragrance. Easily liked in my experience by others. If you consider yourself too macho, probably won't like it. If you like sweeter, not ultra masculine scents you'll probably dig it.

The Dreamer, on the other hand, I would not recommend. Off putting, weird opening leaves a bad impression on me, and although the fragrance gets better later on, I can't find justification for recommending it. A much better tobacco fragrance from the same house of Versace is the purple one: Versace Man. Beautiful stuff and very under appreciated.

I blind bought Midnight in Paris and greatly enjoy it. The initial notes aren't great, but the dry down is excellent. I own Brit and YSL L'homme and like them a lot (if that helps). I also blind bought Versace Dreamer, not a huge fan of it (have an extra BNIB bottle if anyone is interested).

I guess I'll have to be the odd man out, but I completely disagree & think its not a safe blind buy at all. I don't mind powdery scents, but it was very heavy on this & it also had a VERY strong rubber note for me. Quite frankly it was overpowering & nauseating & my wife told me it was one of the worst fragrances she's ever smelled on me. Just my 2 cents & I know I'm in the minority here, but not at all a safe blind buy IMO.

To me it looks like a safe blind buy. Try to get the EDP.
Dreamer is also okay only if you like the powdery tobacco scents!

Everytime I wear it, I get Inquiries as to what it is.
Lots of positive feedback... And I dig it too.
I should mention that it was a blind by for me as well.

It's a safe blind buy as long as you don't mind if the $30 ends up being wasted. That's not to say Midnight In Paris isn't great. I'm just saying, there's no way to know if you'll like it until you smell it.

I was going to buy a bottle on Amazon for around $30. I bought a sample at The Perfumed Court instead. I'm glad I did, because I didn't end up liking MiP enough to want to own a bottle.

It's good. But that doesn't mean you'll like it.

In the end, there is no such thing as a safe blind buy.

Yes, the EDT has a very strong latex-like note and didn't sit right with me, whereas the EDP in my opinion has that note turned down enough to be beautiful

I will be th oddball and say that The Dreamer is a safer blindbuy. The opening is quite harsh but the drydown has to be one of greatest drydowns I have ever smelled. I found MiP to smell like feminine smelling lemon scented bug spray. I actually got extremely nauseous. But that's just my experience...

for $30 I would deffo buy it. That's a crazy price and not reaaly a risk if you don't like it.

I couldn't stand the stuff and found it extremely powdery. That is a good price, so if you love very powdery scents have at it... Just have a good idea what you are getting into first...

That's a steal, just buy it.

Not saying it's safe but it a very good fragrance and one that will grow on you. Immediately after receiving a sample I ordered the bottle the next day after testing.

I mentioned a few posts back that this thread inspired me to buy a sample of MiP before blind buying.

Glad I did. It came this morning. I don't like it !

It's a very nice scent but instantly reminds me of women. A very feminine fragrance imo, and while I'm open to feminine fragrances on men (I think with the right attitude most things can be pulled of) this one I think would not work well for me.

So with that in mind I would strongly recommend getting a sample before blind buying ... !

The EdP: yes, pounce on it. Lovely stuff, very well-priced. My wife raved about it when I wore it last weekend. I love it, too. If for some reason you don't like it, you'll easily be able to ditch it online someday. It's one of those rare fragrances that's at its peak in terms of formulation, packaging, and freshness. Get it now, before it's reformulated, repackaged, and price for the original goes sky high. It has classic written all over it. One of the safest blind buys imaginable.

The 4.2 oz came in today.

I really like it actually. I was afraid it would be super feminine but I don't think it is an issue. I can see it being unisex but I feel comfortable wearing it. I would say it is metrosexual, and setting it next to Dior Fahrenheit feels awkward since that is about as masculine as a scent can get IMO. But I think the scent really fits my overall style.

Overall, I give it a 8.5 out of 10. And will be one of the cool weather daily work scent for me in place of d&g ph and hanae mori hm. Glad I blind bought this one.

there's one on eBay now : do a search for "Midnight In Paris edp" - it's in Bulgaria.

there's also some on Amazon - do a search for "Midnight In Paris parfum" - it's not $30 though - it's over $100

If you don't mind moderate projection, vanilla-tonka notes, a little bit feminine fragrance, then it's no problem.
