Mastic

what is mastic?
i have noticed it in Infusion d Iris

this is from wiki:

Mastic is a resin obtained from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus). In pharmacies and nature shops, it is called "arabic gum" (not to be confused with gum arabic) and "Yemen gum". In Greece, it is known as the "tears of Chios," being traditionally produced on that Greek island, and, like other natural resins, is produced in "tears" or droplets.
Originally liquid, it is sun dried into drops of hard brittle translucent resin. When chewed, the resin softens and becomes a bright white and opaque gum. The flavor is bitter at first, but after chewing, it releases a refreshing, slightly piney or cedar flavor.

Hi Hednic.

Yes it is. All theway from the eastern most coast of Oman to probably right around the south east of Italy I would imagine.

I bet you've tried it during your travels. Maybe even unaware.

I tried chewing it out of curiosity and I didn't find it yum at all. Very bitter. I must have had some crude stuff.

I'm not sure why. In its natural state, it's edible. Maybe yours was processed or simply old?

I will go and get another bit now....

Must be old. It's really crunchy now and it wasn't before... not as bitter as I remembered though.

Sniff Indigo by Magnetic Scent - extremely mastic heavy - an incredible perfume.
