Are you saying you value the strict and regimented adherence to the "rules" of a thread over the free and communal discussion of entirely relevant topics by those passionate about fragrance?

If the OP has no issue with the way people are interacting on his thread, then I really struggle to see why you have. Lighten up, fella.

Quite frequently posters ignore what the OP is asking for and just post what they feel like posting. I don't think that's helpful. It doesn't mean I'm depressed about it.

I find it amusing that people lack such basic reading comprehension skills. Oh, and the OP emphasized to list just one note for each.

It's a bit of fun, not the law. People can do what they like.

Of course they can do what they want, but I think it's a common courtesy to respect the intent of what the original poster had for the thread they made.

Oh, here's mine:

Loved - Leather
Hated - Aquatic

He's surely referencing Sécrétions Magnifiques by Etat Libre d'Orange, which claims to contain those notes.
Since smelling Wall Street, I've been put off all Marine notes for the time being, that dry down is not nice at all.

I've also just noticed that each fragrance I've worn over the past 4 days has coriander notes.

Love - Coriander
Hate - Marine notes.

I don'y know of any fragrance that just smells of civet. Just an observation.

You're absolutely right of course, but then we don't have this wonderful thread.

Oh let him go. I rather enjoy hearing from The Committee of Public Safety. I'm ashamed to admit I'm one of the
"ONLY ONE NOTE" violators. I'm planning on wearing a crew neck when they march me up to the platform.

Hey sorry about the misspell. I get excited.
Love: Lemon

Hate: Civet
Tbh I'm having a difficult time choosing either way. There's no one note that sticks out as my most, or least favorite. I don't like the civet in the current Kouros, but love it in Dior's Leather Oud. I thought I didn't like tuberose after smelling Carnal Flower, but then fell in love with Tubereuse Criminelle. Thought I didn't like cumin because of Puredistance M/Opus IV, but then realized that Rose 31 is loaded with it. I feel like any note can smell good when used correctly.

This. Surely the variance is interesting. That some people cannot have just one. It is just as relevant to like multiples equally, no matter what the OP demanded.
Love: oud, Vetiver, leather
Loathe: fecal
Oh the bickering...must be Basenotes...

I specifically asked for your most favorite and least favorite. If that's an hard question to answer, then don't answer it! I don't have an issue with people writing down more than one note that they love, but I'm not interested to know all of the notes you love, I just wanted people to write down the note they loved the most, and they're least favorite. It's as simple as that. But you do what ever you want to do. I'm thankful anyway for all of you that answered to this thread, it's great so see what notes y'all like!

I see that a lot of you hate Civet. I really need to sample something that has a prominent civet note so that I can see what the fuss is all about!
My most hated (i hate very rarely anything) is that note, a spice that is present in top and maybe middle notes of

  • Santos Cartier Concentree (not in the original but in concentree)
  • Caron Yatagan

I'm not sure but it can be basil. I just can't stand it at all!

I like especially many citrus notes like bergamot, lemon verbena, lime. Carnation, peppers, artemisia, various woody notes.

Try Mouchoir de Monsieur.
Well since we're going 'currently', I'll confess I'm on a bit of a hay binge at the moment.
Full bottles of Chergui and Sova are on their way, and I really get some hay-like notes from Sana, too.

Most hated stays fairly constant - sour yuzu.

MFK Absolue Pour le Soir will give to a real good dose of civet.
Mike: Sniff some Joy (Jean Patou). This has one of the strongest civet notes in any perfume.
i think this should stand under each profile so when we read perfume review , we can check up personal taste and how biased someone is would help me at least

adore: oud, mysore, jasmine, iris
love: fruity, tuberose, rose, yilang-yilang, vetiver, bergamot, incense, carnation, only real animalics:civet, ambergriss, vanilla, almond, real oak moss, lycorice,
hate: synthetic spices, too much of pepper, synthetic animalics and moss!, many musks, aldehydes!! cinamonn, clove, benzoin, many ambers, lily of the valey

patchouli and tobacco.....can be so so depends on the blend sometimes i loooove them, sometimes cant stand

liking Oud
disliking most Vetiver except Mona Di Oirio's Vetyver...Yummm
post #103 of 110
Most loved note for me is Tabacco, and most hated vetiver.
Favorites: Vanilla, Leather, Lavender, Cocoa, Cedar, Vetiver, Pineapple, Black Currant, Sandalwood

Least Favorites: Excessive Pepper! Excessive Civet! These are both killers to me. There is one other note that is repulsive but I've yet to figure out what it is. Some woman I work with wears this fragrance and I have to be at least 10 feet away from her desk so I can't smell her. Blech.

Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee. I have it, and it's a perfect match to what you are looking for.

Fav: Verbena (always)
Least Fav: Marine Notes

although Iris and Laundry detergent musks were neck and neck with Marine Notes for getting the thumbs down.

At the moment,

Not Aventus, it was crystal meth or amyl nitrate, or maybe it was both.
I should really stop doing them while typing.

Hate: calone, "woody amber" aromachemical, laundry musks
