List your favorite ASAQ,AO oils and or description
post #2 of 30
ASAQ: Thaqeel (duh), Khalta Al-Qurashi (vetivery, ambery), and there's one more.
AO: Oud Shoyoukhi (smells like good quality pure Malay and Cambodian oud), King Fahad (utterly smooth).
Ajmal: Mukhallat Dehn Al-Oud (classic oud-rose blend), Mukhallat Al-Burj (very 'Emirate'-smelling).

@Taha
yea Akhi, what is the 'one more',inquiring minds would like to know lol
post #7 of 30
Well, I received a bunch of sample vials, and I remember there was one that I really enjoyed (as did my wife). Smelled like an oud-rose combo from what I recall.
You might have to go to an ASAQ branch and try out all their mukhies! : p

My favourite ASAQ perfumes (excluding ouds) are
- khaltat Usrat Al Qurashi (oil)
- oud musk (oil)
- alkhitam musk (oil)
- Alhajar Alaswad (oil) - There are 2 different kinds. One is $220/tola and the Royal Alhajar Alaswad is 820/tola. I have only tried the less expensive one
- Arzat Lubnan
- Khaltat Almunasabat

Arabian Oud
- Woody + Woody Intense (spray)
- Jathab (spray)
- Dehn oud seyoufi fakher (oil)
- Dehn oud Brunei (oil)

Ajmal
- Mukhallat Dehn al oud Al muattaq
- Dehn oud Qadeem-Qadeem (Muattaq)

Alharamain
- Mukhallat seufi (oil). There are 2 kinds. I am referring to the new one.
- Dehn oud almanasek.

Hamil Al Musk
- Malaki musk
- Alwazeer musk
- Taif rose (for some reason I prefer their taif rose because they do have a factory in the city of Taif itself + their price is reasonable compared to Ajmal or ASAQ)

I had a 2 questions for taha...

First, when you mentioned khaltat alqurashi, which one were you referring to because ASAQ sell 3 different ones in oil form and one in a spray form.

Second, my understanding is that mukhallat burj is sold at alharamain ($3 per tola) but i have never come across one that is sold by ajmal. is it a pre-pachaged one or do you buy it by the tola?
The Khalta Al-Qurashi I mentioned is green in color. I think it might be the same as Khaltat Usral Al-Qurashi you mentioned (translated as The Perfume of the Qurashi Family).

As for the Mukhallat Burj I mentioned, then it is (was?) a VERY limited edition oil, only available in the UAE. Not available in other places, even Saudi Arabia. It is VERY different from Al-Haramain's Burj.

@Taha

If it is green in color then it is most likely the cheapest one out of the 3 khaltat Alqurashi oils. But to me it is the best smelling out of the 3 oils. I have only once come across a perfume that had a similar smell. It was "Mukhallat Malaki" by hamil almusk which I bought back in 2005. The last time I went by their store they had 2 versions of it and none of them smelled like the original one I had bought from them.

Khaltat Usrat AlQurashi is actually a different perfume. It is 2x the price of the "green" khaltat Alqurashi that you are talking about and is yellow in color.

I had qurashi blend He was of this color

@Mustafa,
Thanks for the clarification. Is the Usrat blend similar in color to the oil in the photo posted by AbdulHakim? It appears less green than what I recall the green Khalta to be.

Salam.

here is a picture I took showing the green Alqurashi blend(left) and khaltat Usrat Alqurashi(right)

Anyone try AO's Sultan Al Atoor
Sultan Alotoor is a classic men's perfume. Many of the major Eastern perfume houses carry it. Sultan Alotoor and misk alwazir (both from hamil almusk) are the perfumes I use on a daily bases.

I bought sultan alotoor twice from 2 different Arabian oud stores. The 2 bottles smelled very different from each other. One did smell similar to the classic sultan alotoor that I am used to. The other was just completely off. It was so bad I ended up spilling it because I had bought it from a far away city and i just couldn't go back to that city for return or exchange.

I have also tried Sultan Alotoor from Hamil Almusk. They have 2 kinds. One of them is double the price of the other. I tend to buy the expensive one because it is just better in quality.

I know ASAQ also sells it but i don't bother buying it from them because their prices are over inflated as usual. So I just stick with Hamil Almusk.

Welcome Nabeel
How is Rawa Oil? And Misk Gazelle?
According to AO rawa is "A dry scent that elevates amber musk. An adventurous fragrance that is kind to the senses while suitably memorable." and to my surprise they have the perfume type listed as women

base notes: sage, pepper, daffodil flower
heart notes: rose, jasmine, lavender
top notes: bergamot

For misk gazelle i would refer to basenote member noogs description

"It is quite animalic like the Ajmal but is less aggressive. It seems more refined and more floral than the Ajmal, a bit more reserved, but it is certainly not sweet."

As Salamu Alaikum. Good Day All,

At one time there was a vendor on eBay House of Oudh, that had a good selection of ASAQ oils, but is no longer operational. Where can one purchase online and sent to the U.S., ASAQ oils?
Jazak Allahu Khayrun, thanks all.
I have tried AO RAWA....it is a very soft perfume...it does smell good...but I got the feeling that it was geared towards women...

misk Algazelle by ASAQ has a very harsh animalic smell that i just couldn't stand...i put it once on my wrist and was told by the employee at ASAQ that it smells bad at the beginning and that it will develop over time, but the smell didn't get any better over time. After a few months I tried it again and i just couldn't handle it. The employee at ASAQ told me that perfumers are the ones who tend to buy this raw format.

wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
on ebay there are other sellers but prices are very expensive
because they put perfume immediate purchase and they are also at auction (some perfumes)
the price immediates purchase is very expensive almost double the price and the price is low in auction
People compare prices and make a lot of auction and think getting a good deal compared to the immediat purchase
especially arabian oud much more expensive than the webshop
post #24 of 30
Mualekum Asalam Wa Rahmatullah ,
yes House of Oud sold his business as far as i know , and for now there is no other shop with large selection of ASAQ oils in Europe,
i would love to help you , but they closed down their shop here in London , i think there is one in Paris , so if you know some one from there , they might be able to help you out /
what you want to get , if you don't mind me asking ?

Barak Allahu Feekum,

Thanks for the suggestions.

@Adam- I'll drop you a line for the contact info for HOO, from whom I got ASAQ's Hajr Al Aswad, Kiswah Kaaba, Qurashi Blend, ASAQ blend and a cheap Cambodian oud. I'd like to try some mentioned in this thread.

Anyone have any reviews or input on ASAQ's Dehn al Oud White

I went once to ASAQ store with the intention of trying the white dehn aloud, but I ended up trying other perfumes and I forgot to try the white dehn al oud....

Here is a review...
