I wore this ol' beauty today and even my sister remarked how great it smells. IMO it is a Powerhouse and to up the anty it is easily one of the Top 5 of all time IMO. It oozes class & sophistication. Cheap it ain't, but if you want to run with the big dogs then you have to learn how to pee on the tall trees.

hey Boge- last time i wore it an old lady said to her old friend "he smells like a chimney fire" when i walked past. i love antaeus. old broad... she really brought me down, i had just gotten a new bottle recently. it smells better to me out of a splash bottle as opposed to a spray. seems stronger to me that way.

A classic and probably my second fav of all time!

I love Antaeus, even the current version. I don't quite consider it a powerhouse, though, even though it's really strong. I think it's a little too refined to be a powerhouse. However, I'm not going to argue with anyone who says it is one. It's just too close to call.

out of a splash bottle its got this cherry cough syrup and smokiness vibe- in a good way. out of the spray it is less powerful... im actually dumb enough to think about trying to spray it into my empty splash bottle. anyone ever do such a thing?

For me it is definitely a powerhouse. Sillage and longetivity are at least on my skin comparable to Lapidus pour Homme or Quorum. Oddly this is also the scent which gets me the most comments, either negative or positive. Which all and especially the female comments have in common is how strong it is, though this might be caused by their habituation to aquatic/unisex/powerless frags.

Antaeus will always have a special place in my heart because that was the first male scent I recognize from the 80s which I used to smell on my father and his best friend and which I got as a present when I was 10 years old.

Sprayed this stuff liberally on my arm today in a store.
Smelled very very good and loud first hour but after that pretty close and less heavy in notes................even more fresh though still good.
Definitely no powerhouse to me but no softy for sure either.
Wondering how the vintage stuff smelled...........

I have a vintage bottle and it's one of the great masterpieces of masculine perfumery.

This is a recent re-found love for me. In terms of being a powerhouse, I don't feel it has the powerhouse attitude or feelper se , but it is for me probably the longest lasting scent I own, exceeding Vermeil, VCA, etc. I find it comforting, re-assuring and luxuriously decadent, without any real "edginess". I love it to bits.

Yes, Antaeus has unbelievable staying power - it lasts almost 24 hours for me. Plus, I get a ton of sillage from it, and for many hours. It's never really a skin scent for me.

Hm. Maybe it is a powerhouse!

Current formulation? 24 hrs?
i also get 24 hours from it,(current formulation) but not nearly as strong as at the initial spraying of course. you have to apply it like you MEAN it! i think olefactory fatigue has a lot to do with it.your nose gets used to it and doesnt recognize it as quickly. it is very strong juice, just not harsh or biting...sort of fools you. its strong but very smooth, as opposed to say giorgio beverly hills for men which is strong AND harsh. really lets you know its strong, theres no such announcement with antaeus, merely its smooth presence. for 20 hours or better. i see it as a powerhouse for sure- its got attitude, just a sexier attitude than others. its got sillage and strength. and it smells great. if it is smooth and not harsh, does that mean it is well blended? or is that another story?
I love Antaeus but it has lost most of its initial strengths, just like most of the old school powerhouse scents but it definitely was a powerhouse back in the days (though a more refined one, indeed)!
I always felt Antaeus leaned towards the Powerhouse side of the fence. It is indeed a Classic with tons of Attitude. In a Sir Alec Guinness sort of way. Perhaps that is why I view it that way

Hi Guys,

Pre reformulation version is perfect powerhosue and masterpiece fragrance. Current formulation is unlucky very synthetic in the heart and the base note. I tried to like it but I can't.
