The anti-Portugal style of Bois de Portugal

The name Bois de Portugal suggests a woody-orange scent, but that is not the case with Creed's Bois de Portugal. I see it as the opposite of everything I usually associate with the term "Portugal".
Orange citrus? None. Light and translucent? No, rich and luxurious to the point of heaviness.
The wood notes are well done but brief. Essentially this seems to me to be an amber-oriented scent, done in the typical opulent Creed style. A style which I can understand but not appreciate.
I wonder how others find this, and if anyone thinks it really is a "Portugal" style scent.

BdP by Creed has nothing to do with the "Eau de Portugal" type of colognes. It has no orange to speak of and no refreshing citrus. It is on the other hand Bois - Wood. Which the name also implies, "Woods of Portugal". Lavender, woods, herbs and spices. Longevity abound and a light touch is implied. One of the finest colognes I have had the pleasure of using. Timeless and bound by ceremony.

Douro (formerly Lords) Eau de Portugal by Penhaligons may be the fragrance that bridges the gap between the tradition orange Portugal scent with the heavier woody oriental scent of Creed's Bois du Portual. Penhaligons tell us this about Douro:

Head Notes
Geranium, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Bergamot, Lavender and Basil

Heart Notes
Neroli and Muguet

Base Notes
Labdanum, Oakmoss, Musk and Sandalwood

Created in 1911, this elegant cologne was created for Sir Percy Croft of the Croft port dynasty and named after the port producing region in Portugal; the Douro Valley. This stylish and mellow delight begins with sharp green limes and soapy bergamot, blending with garden fresh geranium and lily at the heart. Then the base notes of musk, oakmoss and sandalwood start to assert themselves, imparting a leathery quality. Underpinned with labdanum, a bitter resin that imparts a unique leathery note, Douro Eau de Portugal is a deep and intensely aromatic cologne.
