I voted Gris Clair because it smells fantastic and is ... in my opinion ... the most versatile one there. *Fumerie Turque is fantastic, but I think much better for cooler weather. *BdP should be a staple in everyone's wardrobe, but much better suited for formal or evening. *MKK is plain scary to me ... and Musc Ravageur I just didn't like.

And to top it off ... although many around here adore it, I have a deep hatred for Egoiste.

i voted BDP. I havent smelled FT or GC though, so dont count them out... Musc Ravengur is nice, but would be better for the winter months. Mkk smells like osoma bid laden, no way around it.

This is indeed possibly the most random list of frags ever assembled for a poll!

I have no idea which I am going to vote for. Maybe it will help if you could tell a little about what you would like to get out of this frag: Inspiration? Practicality? Day wear? Night wear? Versatility? Formal? Casual?

I haven't yet sniffed BdP. Gris Clair was nice enough, but not compelling. I love MKK and Musc Ravageur but as distinctive frags that can be a challenge to wear, neither qualifies for a blind buy purchase. I really enjoy Egoiste, but I ADORE the divine Fumerie Turque - that's the one I voted for.

    Fumerie Turque!

Fall days and this fragrance will match so well. It is amazing!

Guys (and girls) thanks for the replies so far. Your comments on MKK are laugh out loud funny! *;D

Indeed this is the most random poll of fragrances ever! I suppose I am looking for a general all rounder: something that I could wear to the office on the odd occasion and something suitable for evening wear. Something that is not too cloying or sweet and with good longevity. A changeable scent that is refined and unique and possibly a favourite with women *

From the results of the poll and based considerably on the fact that I don't think I have yet to hear one person here give a negative appraisal of BdP, I assume that BdP might be a safe blind buy to make.

    Whoa, cowboy-
I've had several women smell BdP, and they all gagged. Literally. Topnotes to drydown, they hated it more than anything else I had.

BdP was not what I had been expecting it to be, that is sure. I was expecting it to smell something like Gucci ph, but is very much sappy/weedy/green. I like it a lot, but it is SO not a blind buy.

My nose, my opinions, of course. Do what feels right. My vote was for Egoiste.

    Hi there,
I have tried all but one of them. Fumerie Turque is truly a divine scent and I have never heard of anyone doing anything but loving it. MKK is no way a blind buy. Gris Clair is a nice lavender but there are definitely fragrances that make more interesting use of the note. If you want an amazing but maybe risky lavender treatment try jicky. BdP was my vote because you can wear it any time and feel like a million bucks it's a lift in any mood an I've worn it in just about any environment. It also gets muchos complimientos. Ft is amazing but definitely has a mood to it.

I have to agree with Ben. While BdP is a great scent, it is uber-masculine, and maybe not one for the younger guys. My gf also hates it on me. It smells very formal to my nose, and I have a tough time figuring out when I would wear it (and I'm 31).

Given your criteria for an all-rounder, Egoiste better fits the bill IMO. It's not the most inspiring of the bunch (which I would say is MR or FT), but it will work in a wide variety of situations, for any age, I think.

Gris Clair would be my #2 option, but you've got to love lavender.

I wish I had a chance to get a bottle of MKK. I have a sample and its running low.
I think MKK is mean, raw and very unusual, even for a southern redneck like me that's been around the barnyard enough to make a connection with it's animalistic character.
When it does loses it's "cow" topnote, it becomes quite nice and natural smelling....and very pornograghic!

It ain't your Sunday-in-church aftershave. This one might have you excommunicated, or perhaps placed in front of a firing squad!! With a scent like that, who needs a scarlett letter!!!

I have to agree with the comments about BdP. I've never seen a frag SO loved by guys, but such negative reactions from women ( not all, but many ).

I know it's kickin' ass in this poll ... but if you're buying it with an intention of impressing women ... it can be a crap shoot.

Out of the ones you listed, Fumerie Turque is my choice.
Current faves: CdG White, Amouage Dia, Millesime Imperial, Miller Harris Terre de Bois

You can't go wrong with Ego. Versatile, no doubt! Office wear, evening, formal and lets be honest - women love it.

I remember GQ doing a huge spread on frags in the 90's and tested a ton of them and the winnner was Ego - women adored it and still do today. Elegance bottled without the heavy cloying feeling as you might get from deeper orientals.

I'd just like to add the counterpoint that, unless Im mistaken, BdP is GraySwan's #1 favorite fragrance and she is, in fact, a card-carrying female.

Hell, if there was one frag I would say buy blind....no questions asked...(and I've bought many blind, including this one, basenotes hasn't let me down even once.) Bois Du Portugal is absolutely an awesome powerhouse scent. Absolutely love it...unfortunately or fortunately (depends on how you look at it), I work in a hospital and not an office or this would be a very expensive everyday accessory. This thing screams class out loud...top of the lungs. If you want to feel like you ooze power...this is it. Makes me feel above and beyond all things menial and manual...if you're at the top of your s*it or feel like you are, this is perfect.

Thank you, Mr. Cairo. You are indeed correct. Of course, I may not be your typical card-carrying female since my wardrobe is comprised of mostly male fragrances. But, I have to concur with the voting majority here and cast my ballot for the beautifully crafted Bois Du Portugal. It is a bit on the formal side, but as far as blind buying is concerned I believe this is your safest bet of the choices presented. It is so elegant and non offensive I can't imagine too many folks being put off by this one. IMNSHO...it is exquisite.

GraySwan also pointed out the fact of elegant, it is that for sure, along with just downright powerhouse as far as I'm concerned....I forgot to mention that...hell, all of this talk of BdP makes me want to go upstairs and spray on some BdP on top of all the Tabarome Millesime I've got on...lol!!

These are my thoughts as well. This is quite possibly the most unworthy blind-buy list of frags that I have seen posted. Not that you wouldn't love any one of them, but I think you should unquestionably try to sample each one of these on your own skin. Please do post your impressions on your ulitmate choice(s)!
