    Default The Whiff of money

This may have been discussed previously, anyway I would like to ask which fragrance(s)puts you in the driving seat of a spanking brand new Ferari, in other words which fragrances reek of raw dosh$$$$?

    My thoughts are:

    Clive Christian's NO.1
    Crown Perfumery's Sandringham
    Creed's GIT

    Over to you...
Let your nose be your pilot

    "raw dosh?"

I've never heard this expression before--but I like it! It's got oomph! [smiley=beer.gif]

When one wears Santos de Cartier, in my opinion, one smells like a man with cold, hard caishe. If ya nawahmeen.

Agreed. It's like inhaling a hundred dollar bill through your nose.

Thanks for your suggestions so far, I want to add another dimension to this thread. I would like you to give examples of fragrances that signify:

    1. old money (e.g santos)

    2. new money (e.g Clive Christian)
Let your nose be your pilot

I'd have to go with the fragrance that started me on this odd, addictive trip:

Creed MI - not really "old money", in that it doesn't have that age-old classicism feel to it. But not new money either, in that it's classier than the solid gold Rolex.

Vintage Tabarome would be another choice, as would MPG Santal Noble. Both share an understated refinement. Continuing down the watch metaphor, all three are more "Patek Phillipe" than "Rolex" or "Audemars Royal Oak". Patek Phillipe being the "I've got money, don't need the flash", the other two being "I really don't have money, but want you to think I do".

    Cheers,
    Jim

Yeah, the thing about the old Tabarome is that it couldn't care less what you think.

New money - Creed Green Irish Tweed ( the equivalent to a flash Rolex!)

Quasar by J. Del Pozo starts off smelling like bananas, but the drydown has a very prominent newspaper print note that smells like money. Aside from Odeur 71, I believe it's the closest you'll get to the smell of actual money.

I must tell you that I actually sniffed U.S. dollars for the first time in my life - today. And, it caught me suprise that they actually smelled very clearly!! I always thought it was just a metaphora, this "smell of money..." ;D

Ah, I guess you`ll never stop learning. :

I actually liked the smell very much: Vintage wet-woods after drying, with some sort of waxed cardboard...that`s what came to my mind.

It`s kind of pitty that euros doesn`t hold any kind of smell.

I definitely agree with Pour Un Ete. How could I forget that one? It smells like freshly printed money.

Jovan Musk evokes images of a DT's suffering redneck staggering off to the 7-11 after midnight for a 24-pack of Milwaukee's Best, with his tattered, Wrangler pockets jangling full of COLD, HARD, loose change.

Anything from the jewellers' crowd: Cartier, Van Cleef, Boucheron, Bulgari, Tiffany, etc.; it's hard to get more "whiff of money" than that.
Tsar is my favorite in this category.

Basenotes has never made me laugh this hard. I'm literally holding my sides.

You'll notice an innocuous bottle of Jovan in my wardrobe.
