Being a fan of a few Chanel scents, I'll say that Pour Monsieur Concentree
is superior to Platinum Egoiste. Platinum is good, but that smoky note
(aldehydes?) is too stong. PMC, on the other hand, is a nice reworking
of the original Pour Monsieur (the original being a bit better, I think). It is
strong on nutmeg, but still retains the chypre character of the original.

I'm happy to wear any of these, however.

Sorry but this is too difficult for me to answer. I love them both for different reasons.

PMC for sure. Great longevity, good blend of citrus and sweet.

My vote goes to PMC without a doubt. It has better balance and unlike Platinum Egoiste, it doesn't smell too perfumey. The only downside to PMC is that it is rather fleeting on my skin despite it being Concentree. Platinum gets too heavy and woody in the drydown although the crisp topnotes are great. But if you spray too much then it's easy to gain the reputation as the "cologne guy".

I love and wear both. And Allure. And Allure Sport.....although never at the same time.

PMC as it's warm, stately, mature, and reminds me for some strange reason of 'Lothlorien and Hobbits'!

PMC is boring; Platinum Egoiste is more versatile imho.

In fact, when The Cologne Guy was running his website, Platinum was one of his top recommendations.

Ha! I agree - total "cologne guy" if you use too much Platinum Egoiste - it's also the prototypical/generic "men's fragrance" scent in my mental model. PE is good, but PMC would be my choice as it's one of the first frags I fell for many years ago, and I still find it great every time I smell it.
