    Default Fragrance shopping in Barcelona

I don't know if this is off-topic, but what the heck! If it is, I'm sorry. Moderators feel free to move it to it's right place!

So, I'm going to Barcelona in three weeks time, and I would like to know the best places for fragrance shopping. I would be thankful to hear the best niche shops, and the lines these shops have. How are the prices in general of for example french and italian houses? Would be also great to hear something about local perfumery, something one can't find in internet.

    Thanks in advance!

Make sure you sample Loewe Esencia while you're there.
I guess it's designer rather than niche, but so what?
It's pretty easy to find throughout Spain - I'm pretty sure I saw it at El Corte Ingles a few years ago.

Just remember that it needs an hour or so to settle, so give it a chance - you won't be sorry.
It's DRY, very masculine and lasts well.

    Barcelona's a great city - have a good time!

I thought I would bump this thread because I just got back from a trip to Barcelona, where I visited both Regia and its perfume museum as well as Basílica Galería. The museum is very interesting because you get to see extremely old perfume containers as well as many of the classics people often talk about on Basenotes. There's also a spot where you can smell several Guerlains, a few of which I think are discontinued. The shop up front has a lot of the more commercial, high-priced scents (Creed, Amouage, Tom Ford, etc.).

I enjoyed Basílica Galería most, though. They have a collection of niche fragrances I'd never heard of and some better-known ones (think Etat Libre d'Orange or Les Liquides Imaginaires). All of the fragrances are sprayed into glass cups so you can smell them after some of the top notes have faded. The owner knew a lot about the perfumes and seemed very interested in selling them to people who actually cared about perfumery, and not just casual shoppers. It was also a much calmer atmosphere, so I could take my time to enjoy the fragrances without a bunch of kids running around.

I've also been there and it was indeed a very pleasant experience. They were courteous and knowledgeable.
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
