Default Ambergris, anyone? (Story in German)

Would someone be kind enough to translate the part that was posted here?

Until Gerald or dr. creed or any other Basenoters who are native german-speakers show up, Ill do my best:

"even if they were to find a customer, they would not under any circumsatnces be allowed to sell the ambergris. In keeping with an international treaty, sperm whales are strongly protected. Any trafficking in spermwhales - or pieces thereof- whatsoever is forbidden, and likewise their remains/refuse qualifies.

Blackmarket selling is nota *possibility, as the Wrights are too well-known for that. At best, a reseach laboratory could legally be permitted to aquire it, but what lab needs 14 kilograms of ambergris for 'reserach'?"

Even when you find a buyer, you can not at al sell the amber. The spermwhales are protected internationally. Trade with spermwhales or parts of them are forbidden, and ambergris is considered a part of.

Sell secretly is not so easy, there the Wrights are known for. Legally, possibly, only an researcher, laboratorian can purchase amber, but who needs 14kg for research?

Speaking of ambergris, I personally love the smell. I own a bottle of Creed's "Fleurs de Bulgarie" and even though I am not crazy about the rose top note...I love the ambergris in the dry down. I have been told it's not an authentic ambergris they are using but a synthetic that is very close to the real thing.

Does anybody know of other scents (masculine, feminine, Creed or other) with a predominant ambergris note? I am on a mission!

Kelley- you should talk to scentemental or dcampen *about this, both are very knowledgeable on the topic.

I think a good fragrance that centers around ambergris is Eau des Merveilles, as said many times, this fragrance can easily be worn by a man.
    Current top 5:

    2. Kilian Apple Brandy
    3. Amouage Fate Man

Acier Aluminum is my all-time favorite scent, but for an even stronger ambergris note (and AA's is pretty strong), try Creed's Ambre Canelle- it's basically cinnamon and ambergris, and is truly lovely.

On the subject of ambergris' legality, nobody really knows what's going on. I've never seen an actual document (treaty, law, whatever) explicitly banning ambergris, though I have read many things stating that is perfectly legal in trade. See the following link for an example:

    http://www.tradeaboat.co.nz/portal/a...6/Default.aspx (at the bottom)

And a recent story on NPR states that an Australian couple found a lump of ambergris on the beach, and suggests that it was sold:
