Default Tobacco- Cuba Red vs. Tabarome Millesime

As a big fan of Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme I decided to pick up a few more tobacco based scents. I went with a high end Creed (Tabarome Millesime) and a low end Cuba Paris (Red). Here are my thoughts:

Cuba Red - Authoritative, heavy scent that surprisingly has some resemblence to Caron's L'Anarchiste. It is difficult to explain the similarity. I guess the best way to visualize it would be to say that what happens to the orange, mint and musk notes in L'anarchiste, happens to the tobacco notes in Red. The notes in both are bent in a surrealistic, artsy manner. An exceptional and long lasting scent that admirers of L'anarchiste should pick up.

Tabarome Millesime - A light scent that smells of ginger and the standard Creed note (recently identified in a thread as whale phlegm). Very little, if any, tobacco in this one. At least not when compared to D&G or Red. Also, this one didn't last long on me. A nice scent but certainly not satisfactory if one is seeking a tobacco centered fragrance.

Bottom Line - The Creed is roughly 10 times more expensive and it is (IMO) the inferior tobacco scent.

How would you rate the Tabarome as a ginger scent?

Consider trying Vintage Tabarome in the Private Collection
instead of Tabarome Millesime. Try a sample and/or purchase
    a decant.

Aramis Havana is also worth trying.

YES!. *The tobacco difference between the Vintage and the Millesime is enormous. *I own both and sometimes forget there's tobacco in the Millesime.

Aramis Havana I also own and love but it's not as strong or as 'pure' a tobacco scent as Cuba Red or Vintage.

    Hope this helps,

Don't forget Ralph Lauren Purple Label if you want to try a fresher greener tobacco.

Yep, Cuba Red is one of the best cheap scents.

I have no problem smelling tobacco in Tabarome. On me, after the ginger top is gone (about 45 minutes), I'm left with tobacco.

I've been wearing Vintage Tabarome by Creed for three days now; I love it!

As a life long smoker; who loves to sniff the tobacco before smoking it; have no problem at all with detecting
the tobacco note in this; I love this scent!

I second that. Dante, have you tried Bvlgari por Homme? To me, its a inferior attempt at the RLPL scent.
