Default Refreshing / changing scents mid-day

I have found that a lot of fragrances talked about on these forums are classified into day / night scents. How would one go about transitioning from a moderate scent to a nighttime one? Is scrubbing the sprayed areas of your body first good enough or do you need to take a shower to really get rid of the smell?

In the same train of thought, some scents only last 6 hours or so on me before they start dying out. Is it OK to refresh with some more sprays on top of the first ones mid-day or can the notes clash before you get into the dry down?

Reapplication is fine. It won't ever clash because the dry down is always there - only it's dominated by the top and mid notes. All that'll happen is you'll revitalize the mid and top notes.

I remember someone here talking about using Noxema cream to remove the leftover scent.
