Default Creed Frags that, well.... aren't so great. *

Just thought I'd list out some frags that I've worn lately that really underwhelmed me. *I apologize for the hack job with the spellings, but these are not worth the trouble of looking up the correct way to spell them:

Citrus Biggerrade - Nice citrus scent. *I would reccomend it, but its just way too mild.
Selection Verite - *A minty scent that just doesn't go anywhere.
Green valley - * Smells like what mint mouthwash with sugar added would taste like.
Royal Scottish Lavender, Royal Delight - Both of these have too much of a lavendar note, and would be well suited for older ladies and tea parties. *

Royal Water - have not tried it, but considering the other "Royals", I wasn't too excited about the prospect. Does it have a lavender-ish note as well?
SMW - got a vial, still trying to give it a chance.

My least favourite is Royal English Leather - it's just too strong.

Oh, I really like Royal English Leather.

One's I don't like are Silver Mountain Water, Himalaya. *Not that they don't smell good - just too subtle and feminine on me.

    SMW

It just smells synthetic, harsh and rather feminine to me.

I'm trying to work through that too. Do you get a powdery dry down with it?

Green Irish Tweed. Too strong, too persistent, no subtlety.

    Since you asked OlfaOmega,

I find only the following to have real merit:

    Santal Impérial EDT
    Bois du Portugal EDP
    Silver Mountain Water EDP

It's no secret I have always thought Creed fragrances entirely overrated, so, in my opinion, you can pretty much take or leave the rest as far as I'm concerned.

I think there are many, many houses (designer and niche) that produce infinitely more complex, original, and daring fragrances, and even designer and niche houses that produce more traditional fragrances that have more merit than Creed fragrances.

    Yes, that too.

SMW just seems to be transparent and light. An analogy would be kinda like putting sugar water on your pancakes instead of syrup - you know, it just doesn't quite get there.

In the interest of dignified debate, I must take issue with the negative comments regarding GIT, Green Valley and Selection Verte. These are incredible, highly refined scents. The only complaint I have, and many others share, is that they have limited longevity.

Royal Scottish Lavender- now that is a stinker in my opinion

I think one that is overlooked a lot and perhaps one of the best creeds is BAIE DE GENIEVRE. Amazing scent.

Given the rave reviews, I was highly disappointed with Erolfa, Acier Aluminium, Original Vetiver, and Tabarome Millesime. They're not bad scents, but I would never pay much for them either.

There's a lot of debate on the similarity between XS and Himalaya. But either way, I much prefer XS between the two.

SMW; it's a Himalaya wanna be that stops short of a full bodied scent.

I love Royal English Leather, on certain occasions (evening, for me is perfect in front of a fire).

    Royal English Leather
    Royal Scottish Lavender
    Royal Water

    Bois de Cédrat
    Tabaróme (Vintage)
Ambre Canelle (by far the biggest disappointment)
    Orange Spice
    Epicéa
    Zeste Mandarine Pamplemousse
    Erolfa

this is not new - I am not a fan of Creed but I am just reading all these opinions and it is just not worth the hype and money - you all agree that most of them do not last - poor lasting power at this price !!!!

Nothing agains it but you said it over rated and over priced

as always, lot's of disagreement and a variety of opinions. people don't even agree which ones to dislike let alone agree which ones to like. i don't care for GIT but most of the others are distinctive & interesting and a few are superb.

I belong to the school of thought that a fragrance is expensive only if you never use it...

GIT is too strong for you? For context, what scents do you consider just right, and not strong enough? Also, what do thihk of A*, the stongest scent that I've tried.

(Can someone tell me how to compress sevreal replies down to one post by the way? )

    I really like

as well. What are a couple of your favorite houses? I realize I may be getting into a Creed rut.

Sorry about my less than dignified comments about GV and Verte. It may just be that I'm not a mint person. Long live the Tweed though baby!! ;D

I have to agree with Mobert. Baie de Genievre and Cuir de Russie are really fantastic, but not as much longevity on me as GIT. The Creeds that last best on my skin are Bois du Portugal and Vintage Tabarome.

I'm pretty new at this, but ...

As for Creed frags that aren't that great, I've never smelled a Creed that didn't smell to me elegant, full, complex, and well, great. On the other hand I've only tried about 8 or 10 of them. Most don't last as long as some others fragrances, but to my nose, they all smell wonderful.

I've tried many Creed fragrances over the last couple of years. There are only two I actually enjoy wearing:

    * Bois du Portugal

    * Royal English Leather

Happy to leave the others to Basenoters who see something in Creed fragrances that completely escapes me.
