Default Your Top 3 Scents Without Staying Power

What are your top 3 scents that have next to no staying power on you (though they may last on others) - that you'd normally consider to have been a waste money, but for the fact that they smell pretty amazing or compelling to your nose.

    My ones are
    Eau Sauvage
    Benetton Cold
    Jacomo Aura

I can't think of three, but definitely Salvatore Ferragamo Incanto PH.

But spraying it on my shirt seems to offset it.

I did get a compliment from a waitress on Saturda, so I guess others can smell it when I wear it.

    Anything from CDG Incense series.

GIT tends to fade away quickly.

That's curious. I've only ever had GIT on my wrist for testing purposes. It lasted for hours and was enough to infect an office I was visiting, so much so that a woman complained asking what that awful smell was that was infecting the room, claiming it made it smell like a Doctor's surgery.

    1. S.T. Dupont pour homme (Christ! This fragrance fades in less than 30 min!)
    2. L'Occitane Verveine (Verbena)
    3. UDV Blue

I think I have the same problem with Rive Gauche and Emporio Armani, I can't sense them when others easily can.

What's UDV short for? It may be handy to know as you have fairly similar tastes to mine.

Thanks. Then I've actually got a UDV one called Rectoverso Man:Blue Atoll, and that lasts pretty well on me. Absolute Musk didn't though, and I got sick of it for the time it did last, so I gave it away.

    1. Baldessarini (that is why I use the Eau de Cologne Concentrée version)
    2. Guerlain L'Instant (what a pitty, such a beautiful scent, I can smell that it was made by a woman ;D )
    3. Millesime Imperial (superb scent, doesn't last all that long on me, though... Shoud last longer, considering the price tag!!!)

    L'Artisan Dzing!

Seriously, this is the only scent that hasn't lasted more than 6-8 hours on my skin. Most fragrances (even the ones that others claim have poor longevity) last very long on my skin - I just don't know what it is with this one. (Yeah, I'm lucky with a good skin type where most fragrances last at least 8 hours)

Millesime Imperial, Silver Mountain Water, and Erolfa. It's a shame because these are all nice scents.

With a few exceptions, the Millesimes don't last any longer than 3-4 hours on me, which is pathetic.

Dzing didn't last long on me either.
But SMW had plenty of staying power on me, like the GIT did. I keep wondering if there aren't Creed fakes being mentioned here. I can't imagine either of GIT and SMW that I tested being short lasting on anybody's skin.

I don't have a whole lot of scents (neither a whole lot of sense according to my kids). Three that are disappointingly ephemeral are Creed's Baie de Genievre, Cuir de Russie, and Original Vetiver. They smell utterly fantastic at first, but last only a couple hours. Baie de Genievre might be my very favorite if it weren't for its short lifespan. I have considered just carrying a small vial and reapplying every couple hours, but that seems kind of excessive (not to mention obssessive).

Maybe my middle-aged skin is just too dry. I tried using an unscented moisturizing lotion prior to application, as per basenoters suggestions, but it had no noticeable affect on longevity.

On the other hand, Creed's Bois du Portugal, Vintage Tabarome, Green Irish Tweed, Dunhill's Edition, and Guerlain's Vetiver last nicely and they all smell great.

Well, I've learnt something from this thread - Hugo Boss does appear to make one short lived scent, and it's his most expensive one.

I think I'd rate Eau D'Orange Verte the second fastest fading scent I've ever come across. First prize would go to 4711.

One of the most important tributes in fragrances that I purchase is staying power. So three fragrances that I easily would have purchased were it not for the poor longevity would be MI, Baldessarini, Dzing!

CSP O'Pomelo: the best pure citrus scent on the market, however it lasts about 20 minutes, which is a shame because it's crisp freshness is wonderful.

Passage d'Enfer: I'd kill for an EDP of this one

Bvlgari Pour Homme: I wish they put out an EDP that didn't mess with the essence of the scent. The Extreme just isn't the same thing.

    Hi Paul,
Some five years ago I posted a list of short lived scents, and I got the most disagreement with my assessment on Bvlgari Pour Homme's staying power. Passage d"Enfer didn't last on me either. I've never seen or heard of this O'Pomelo one before you mentioned it.

Three scents I really like but run outta gas before the finish line!!

Carven Vetiver: A nice, crisp scent but it fades within 3 hours or so. I like it for the summer, but the heat makes 7+ sprays neccessary. I guess for the low price, it all levels out.

Unleaded by Donna Karan: Man, I SOOO like this scent!! But it enters with a roar and departs with a whimper. Because of it's rarity, I dare not apply more than 4 spritzes. Oh well....at least I get 3 good, fragrant hours out of it!

CK Be by Calvin Klein: One of my favorite musk scents. At least priced reasonably and package in a large bottle!! 8 spritzes needed to get me through an 8 hour day. Drydown radiates wiythin centimeters of my skin.

    Currently wearing: Yatagan by Caron

I like Carven Vetiver a lot too.
It was the first scent I experimented with testing out double dosing. I got a lot more life out of it by spraying where I normally sprayed, waiting a minute, then spraying exactly over where I'd just sprayed before. The cost is that you use it up twice as fast - but luckily, it's usually pretty cheap.
