Default Acqua di Parma: Colonia vs. Colonia Assoluta

Have only tried the original, so I wondered:
Which of them do you prefer, and why?

    I love Colonia Assoluta

Colonia - the sweeter, more floral nature of assoluta is not my cup of tea. I love the old dried rose smell of colonia.

Colonia Assoluta might be a little less "interesting," but it is a little more versatile and has superb longevity. I vote for Assoluta.

I like the original better because it has a more clean barber shop feel to it. The assoluta is spicy and vomitous to my nose. As for me, my wife does not like scents with lemon in it so this is one I will not be purchasing. I have to say, aLthough it is pleasant, I don't think I would purchase it anyway because when I skin tested it, I felt like I was a lemon drop candy.

Colonia has a durable, subtle rose note which I quite love and find uplifting. When I first tried Assoluta it wasn't bad, it had more of a stronger citric presence, but it was a touch bug-spraylike from my testing today at Neiman Marcus.

Both are very fine fragrances, but the citrus and rose combo of
Colonia makes it the better of the two. Assoluta is definitely worth
    a sniff, though.

Had and love them both. I voted for the original because I gave it to my brother and now I kinda miss it, although I love wearing the Assoluta too.

I voted for Colonia, the original, for pretty much the same reasons spelled out by posters above. That rose and citrus combination work perfectly for my nose and to my surprise I always get great duration from the original.

I bought Assoluta for a girlfriend, on the theory that she and I would both wear it, but I never was taken in by its spell, as much as I wanted to be.

Assoluta. The original is a classic, but short-lived in my opinion and almost too lemony (as in Pledge). I picked up Assoluta because it just has something... more to it.
