Default Michael for Man (Michael Kors)

Local perfumery had got Michael for Man (Michael Kors) but they haven`t tester. Could you compare this one with any other fragrances that I know what to expect from Michael (no niche please)? *

Obsession, just better, with a lot of patchouli and tobacco!

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Marc Jacobs? That one is all fig, Michael is tobacco and spices.
Oriscent, AgarAura Pure Ouds, Creed, LIDGE, Patou Pour Homme, tons of niche and rare stuff for sale!

Yup, plus booze! It is really unique among mass-market, designer frags. The only approximation that I know of is D'Orsay's Le Dandy. There was talk about the similarities between the two in the recent Le Dandy thread from last week.

To me the drydown smells like a darker version of Minotaure with something like a plum note

Wow! This fragrance really is all over the place with comparisons.. neat.

My name is Michael, I may have to try Michael for me.

For me this is a love/hate scent. Most of the time the notes of Michael get confused and stumble around on my skin. Very herky jerky. Kinda like a Ferrari driven by someone with a learners permit. It never seems to "get in gear"

But when it does hit the mark, the scent is second to none and full of fragrant contrasts.
Spicy smooth with sharp edges. Brash with a mellow refinement.

Lastly, the bottle design and the color of the juice is spot on with the nature of the fragrance.

I haven't worn this one for awhile, so I can't help with a detailed description. But, I do recall describing it on this board as a fragrance that brings out the "hippy" in me.....tobacco, leather, patchoulli...it's all there. As Mason points out, this is a "love/hate" scent....I love it, but there's plenty out there that hate it. If you have a chance, you might want to sample first...........

    Cheers,
    Jim

There's someone here who hates this one with a purple passion...

To me it's a fake macho scent that comes on WAY too strong and smells cheap. But that's only one man's opinion.

I just tried Knize Ten today thanks to the generosity of another basenoter,MJH(thanks Mike!) and I got to say it is a much nicer leather scent than this scent. That isn't tantamount to saying Kors is bad however. It is leather alright, but not very refined.More of a single note type to me.Not very complex.Maybe a little fig or tobacco but a ton of leather.Smells something like Daim Blond without the strong floral note.It is wearable but I wouldn't recommend it highly.Roland.

    Michael is unique and warm.

Wow! Not in my experience. Le Dandy is nothing like the other two you mention. It not only is different in character from them, but blows them away depth- and quality-wise. Michael for Men is a closer approximation to Le Dandy than Varvatos or DK Fuel, but in the end Le Dandy stands apart, above, and alone.

I'm sorry but I have to politely disagree. Le Dandy is one of my top five favorites and Varvatos is my girlfriends favorite so I wear them both often enough to say there is almost zero similarity.

Dandy has no leather smell to speak off and it's a very rich, boozy, showboat type fragrance.
Varvatos is creamy leather, more cool and distant.
