Default Unexpected money=Blind buy extravaganza time

Well, it turns out that my school overcharged me and sent out a check today, so I got 1000 dollars US that I didn't expect and therefore didn't have in my budget. I'm going to put most of is away for a rainy day, but still, a couple of hundred towards my hobby won't hurt. I'm raiding Aedes for something new, here are my choices so far:

    Costes:

The concept of rose with incense and musk intrigues me, I love rose in anything so this would probably be right up my alley.

    Carthusia Uomo
    http://www.aedes.com/product.php?product_id=1291
Mix of Kelp and rosewood with berries. Smells fresh, I'd be worried about it being too sweet though. Everytime I've smelled kelp though it's been salty so this might be a good marine scent.

    Montale Woods and Spices

    Parfums de Rosine Rose Homme
    http://www.aedes.com/product.php?product_id=1504
A mix of rose, vetiver, and leather.

    Santa Maria Novella Nostalgia

I really, really, want to smell like a race car here folks.

I'm getting MPG Eau de Isles for sure and Bond 9 New Harlem, and I want to pick one or two of the above to get as well, tough call though!

    1st choice ~ Nostalgia
    2nd choice ~ Rose d'Homme

FORGET the other two....not worth the money IMO.

First off...New Haarlem is an EXCELLENT choice.
and Montale's Woods and Spices is the only one I'd buy from that line of scents.
    However, Looking a your wardrobe...
I'd recommend the following from luckyscent or any other place that has them:

    Sequoia by CDG
    Narziß by Dorissima
    Le Boise by Ginestat
    Anvers by Ulrich Lang

    These are incredible scents IMO
    Good Luck!

Ah, this is *EXACTLY* what I wanted. Given my wardrobe and a high budget, what should I buy?

First, Sequoia sounds too green and linear for me, can you tell me what makes it stand above other woods?
NarziB sounds right up my alley, as do Anvers and Le Boise. Hmmm, so much for having money left over

There have been "other" threads regarding Sequoia...I recommend reading over those as well....but to me...Sequoia just stands out as unique...."don't let the "mulch" talk get in your way...to me this is ever so slight and not lasting past the first hour. There is just a nice mix of wood and sweetness...like a liquor or something....Also, My wife just love the ANVERS....Right now, her faves on me are New Haarlem, PdN New York and Anvers.

1: Your wife's tastes mirror my own. I love my sample of New Harlem and can't wait for the full bottle, PDN is one of my two signature scents, and anvers seems like a dream to me.

2: I'll give sequoia another look, the concept of the liquor note with the greens intriques me, but I must be honest, I'm generally not a fan of purely green scents. I will at the very last buy a sample of it.

3: Damn you for showing me luckyscents, I've just found another half dozen that I want to try.

No worries....I'm confident that if you get a sample...a big bottle
will be in your future...To me...Sequoia is not green at all.
    Enjoy!

That Narziß by Dorissima scent is a damn good one!

Hmmm, I'm looking at the price of what I want so far....

    New Harleem: 160
    Avingon: 54
    NarziB-130
    Anvers-80
    Eau de Isle-105

    Yikes!

Can you tell me a little more about what Le Boise smells like?

Edit: Scratch Le Boise, apparently it's dry woods. Forest fire dry.

Several of those should be available here as decants. Why don't you pick up some decants first.
All these moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Regarding decants: I've already smelled the MPG and New Harlem as well as the Avignon, so at least half of it is non blind

Agh crap now I'm reading reviews of Costume National's Scent Intense and I'm intrigued by it too...

I'm going to bed now to dream of new smells.

Carthusia is definately NOT worth the money. I've been to Capri this summer and I was greatly disappointed by Carthusia. Smells very mediocre :-/

I only know one of them, Wood & Spices, that's a wonderful Montale scent with awesome longevity, richness, and sophistication. One of my planned splurges hopefully in the near future!

I really wouldn't say there is a green in Sequoia.
