Not sure if this has been pointed out before, but doesn't Aramis Bermuda Tonic smell just like Tommy Blue Jeans? How do so many colognes smell alike? Guess you can't copyright/trademark fragrances.

When i first got Bermuda Tonic, i thought it smelled very similar to Kenneth Cole Black, but BT has a tropical sweetness to it.

If a certain scent works and sells well, why wouldn't you copy? Unfortunately, sometimes designers don't want to try something new because they don't want to fail/lose money. Look at how many times on this board we hear about patchouli or sandalwood. These two notes are in seemingly everything, but most people don't care as long as it smells good.
