Default Anyone tried the Montale scents ?

For men and Oud men ???

I tried most of them from the sample program they have at Aedes. I didn't think any of them were all that great except for the Chypre-Fruit ... which I think is fantastic! It's listed on ParfumsRaffy as a women's fragrance, but I think it's very wearable for a man.

The Oud/Aoud collection was the biggest letdown for me. I was particularly interested in the Aoud Lime ... but I didn't smell any lime at all in the fragrance.

DEFINITELY a "try before you buy" line at those prices.

I, too, sampled the men's scents. I was not greatly impressed.

I tried Wood and Spices earlier this week. *It was very similar to Dunhill Desire Blue, aquantic, cold, very sweet, and long lasting (a bit too cloying). *Don't think it was worth the price though.

I recently went into the Parfumesraffy store and smelled the leather one (can't remember the name) and I was really impressed by it's extrme "leatherness" (did I just make up a word?).

I'm not sure if I liked it or not, but I did have to respect that it wasn't trying to hide it's nature.

Yes, I have them all. Royal Oud is my fav of the line but I also like the fruity one.

I don't find them particularly distinctive, especially for the price--save Sandalsliver. *Oud Lime smells an awful lot like Versace Uomo, Woods and Spices smells like the similarly named offering from Pecksniffs. *The bottles just seem a bit too... cheap isn't the name I would want to use, but it's the only thing that comes to mind. *I do believe they are good scents, but Sandalsliver is the standout for me at this point. *

Well....I just couldn't wait....right arm is Montale for men....
Left Arm in the Crown frags.
    10 minutes into them....

    Montale
Embruns D'Essaouira smells of burning wood....blah!

Vetiver des Sables seems to have a eucalyptus note in there clearing my sinuses
and yet there is something sweet about it, let's see if it stays there.

Soleil de Capri is a fresh/fruity/floral....it may be fleeting already...nope, there it is....nice ?

Fougeres Marines, this may be gone already, or is it my nose playing tricks on me, maybe I went to far but I have the coffee beans beside me
...but I do detect a faint seaside/marine note

Wood and Spices is a semi-sweet/woody frag that seems the most pleasant so far

I'll check back in an hour or so.

    Montale
Embruns D'Essaouira - Still, BLAH not good IMO

Vetiver des Sables - has gotten a bit more "earthy" not sure on this one.

Fougeres Marines - to me....it's seaweed and pepper, don't think I'll pick this one up.

I may get these two below....

Soleil de Capri - still nice....real nice and soft/fresh/fruity?

    Overall, VERY disappointed.

The only ones even worth MAYBE exploring more are

Royal Oud....similar to Creed's Royal Delight
Attar...Similar to Amouage Gentleman's Cologne (AKA Gold Cologne)

    Woods & Spices
    Soleil de Capri

    and
    Maybe

    Vetiver des Sables

I don't know if you ordered the Chypre/Fruit sample, but I think that's by far the best of the bunch. I know it's listed as a womans fragrance, but I think it's very unisex and very wearable for a man.

    It's at least worth a try ...

Where can I sample the Aoud Lime...it wasn't listed on the parfums raffy site.
Can I get it at aedes?

Patchouli Leaves is one of the most intense patchoulis out there: Very deep and very resinous for about the first hour, then becoming sweeter as it dries down (vanilla). Even more intense than Mazzolari's, although Mazzolari is the more refined blend and more wearable.
    ..."net", not "naut".
