    Default My latest samples

Got 8 more samples from Perfumeworldwide, among them the infamous Kouros. My reaction?

    FOUL BREW!!

Whoever said this smells like a urinal cake was dead-on. (a urinal cake WITH the wee-wee added that is)

The 2nd worst (although these are based on just a dab on each finger so far) was YSL. Kind of bitter. St. Laurent rebounds though, with one of my 2 favorites of the group - Opium. (The other fav is Mount Blanc Prescence)

    All the others...

    Aramis 900
    Mount Blanc Individuel
    Body Kouros
    Cerruti Image

...I thought were okay but wouldn't consider buying.

Ordering samples like this is soooo fun though. It's like digging through a Xmas stocking, and hella safer than buying blind. I've probably tried 50 or so scents like this and based on my following favs so far, can anyone suggest what might be the "Holy Grail" frag (for me) I'm still looking for?

    Cerruti 1881
    Lacoste(original)
    Opium
    Presence
    Safari
    Kenzo Jungle
    Boss #1
    Boss #6
Lacoste Pour Homme (I own this one and was convinced it was my signature scent but ALL that vanilla is kind of getting overwhelming lately)
    Astor (Trumpers)
    Spanish Leather (Trumpers)

As you can see, I'm not big on citrus or acquas. Is it orientals I like? (I'm not up on all the categories) How I explain it is I like sweet, but not "feminine" sweet.

What cologne am I looking for?

Thanks - yes, I listed Jungle and the Pi I tried but too much vanilla (even more than Lacoste Pour Homme)

Casran I have to check out - actually, I've never heard of it.

Sweet but not feminine sweet...I would have to say then to avoid scents that have a combination of vanilla and lavender. I would recommend you trying scents with sandalwood/vanilla or sandalwood/tonka bean basenotes. Have you tried YSL Body Kouros? I think you might like it more than Opium.

Yes, I think you're right about the sandalwood. Body Kouros was one of the ones I just received. It starts out nice then takes a turn toward tobacco(?) Still not bad though. This is just based on a dab so far - I will have to apply the whole sample soon to get the full story.

I believe you should go for the spicy and ambery orientals. Gucci Envy is one for you to consider.

Have you tried M7 and maybe Pi Fraîche?
