Default Got any really good woody floral suggestions?

I just found out after trying out a lot of fragrance on my skin, I have tend to move toward woody floral fragrances. If you have one that you think that I should try, please tell me! [smiley=happy.gif]

Anything smooth and nice would help.

    Thanks in advance.

Also, how good is aramis 900 herbal spray? I heard it's really good and I think it's a floral woody fragrance.

Hmmm.... woody represents my favorite category of fragrances. But woody + floral? Off the top of my head, I would really suggest trying YSL Jazz and CdG 3.

    Good luck!

At first I wanted to recommend Ungaro II, but realized that's more citrus/floral with a musk base. Then it hit me--doah! Ungaro III may be the scent you're looking for. Floral in that it has a deep rose note in it, with a very resinous, woody base. Check out the reviews in the directory--a lot of highly recommends.

Ungaro III, Jardin du Nil, Zino by Davidoff.

Those are probably my three favorite masculine floral fragrances.

The notes for Ungaro III are:

Lemon, pepper, orange, geranium, patchouli, galbanum, sandalwood, vetiver, and the ever-infamous "sensual note". It's classified as a woody spicey aromatic (this is straight from the back of the box).

Penhaligons Hammam Bouquet is very nice -- its mainly rose and sandalwood with a little jasmine in there too.

Yesh, that's one helluva good floral scent! I would also like to add CDG# 2 and #3, Hanae Mori, Dunhill d, Paul Smith Extreme, Givenchy Insense, CK Be, Guerlain L'Instant pour homme and Cacharel pour l'homme.

Toughy! Fahrenheit, Lalique Lion (probably Heritage too).

Lalique Equus also has some jasmine but it takes a while for it to come out.

Cacharel pour l`homme, maybe a bit to floral, but generally very good.

Givenchy Insensé is a wonderful Magnolia+woods with a balsamic hint: really delightful!
Also Tsar and Voleur de roses are beautiful rose+wood scents; Vdr has also an earthy plum note.

Try Chanel Égoïste (*not* Platinum): rosewood in the head, rose in the heart, and exotic woods in the base.

    I'd try both:

Chanel Antaeus (unique and hard to describe, definitely has a floral heart, prob has some wood in addition to leather)
Chanel Egoiste (sweet, creamy, sweet spice, floral and wood)

    Others:

Trumpers Sandalwood (similar to Egoiste but a bit woodier)
Dior Homme (gourmandy sweet with iris and a hint of wood on drydown)
Guerlain Derby (predominantly leathery, with a floral heart and some wood)
Guerlain L'Instant (pretty unique and hard to describe, sweetness but can be fresh too)
Gucci Envy (sweet spice and wood, no floral)
Gucci PH (pure dry wood, no floral)

I don't know if I'd class all of them as "woody florals" as such, but they all contain some floral and wood notes.

You could perhaps sample some of the Montale Aoud-based fragrances: they're woody and some of them have a wonderful rosenote

Yes, indeed Aramis 900 will fit the bill with absolute graciousness.

Others I can recommend (some of them already mentioned before):

    C&S No. 88
    Ungaro III
    Voleur de Roses
    Jazz
    Tsar

    Yardley Sandalwood
    Boucheron pour Homme

i'm going to suggest Hermes Un Jardin en Mediterranea

fig and cedar with other florals. it has a sparkling, effervescent quality to it. some say its feminine, but i think the slight, slight bit of cumin that it has prevents it from being feminine, but rather a true unisex scent.

sometimes i mix it with Terre d'Hermes for a more 'earthy' spin to it.

I'm in the same boat too, and honestly, there are very little offerings marketed toward men with a floral-woody designation:

    Amouage Dia
    Chanel Egoiste
    Guerlain Jicky
    Givenchy Insense
    Guerlain Habit Rouge
    Dior Homme
    Versace Dreamer
Swiss-Arabiya Sultan (Chypre-Floral-Woody) if you can find this, with an obvious note of real Bulgarian Rose, but undoubtedly masculine. An Arabic creation that's rare out there, but of remarkable quality.

And if you don't mind trying women's marketed scents:

Guerlain Samsara (Sandalwood and Jasmine combination...just go lightly)
Chanel Bois des Iles (like Samsara, but greener and more transparent...not as longlasting)
Chanel Coco (the tuberose is prominent on the topnotes for 15 minutes, but it's basically rose, spice, vanilla and woods on the drydown)
Youth Dew Amber Nude (spicy, vanillic, with a remarkable 'black rose' note, I regard this as incense you wear on the skin)
Guerlain Shalimar (we're getting dancing past the center line here...floral-vanilllic-woody)
Cartier Baiser du Dragon (floral of iris, yet dry with with woods and patchouli, very neutral and holds up just fine in hot weather without being cloying...your best bet if you think you're going too far with the other womens marketed scents mentioned above)

Sorry, but my choices are more of the oriental variety, because I like the added zest of spice in a good floral-woody combination. Makes the scent more well-rounded IMO.

Oh yeah, and there's also the shared scent of Frederic Malle's Iris Poudre, very floral at first, but you don't catch the scent of woods until the last third of the drydown. At first I thought it was just too much floral for me, but as long as I sprayed sparingly (very hard with one of those FM 5ml samples, mind you) you get a very pleasing aura that's not flowerbomb feminine.

Well, if you like incense, you could try L'Artisan Passage d'Enfer.
The sandalwood base & white flowers work together very nicely.

Aramis 900 is IMHO one of the 5 best american colognes. Though I see it more as a chypre than a woody floral.

When I think of woody floral, I think immediately of Bois d'Iris by The Different Company. A contrast between feminine powdery notes of one of the most noble flowers and dry masculine notes of cedar and vetiver.

I absolutely agree with the suggestions of Dior Homme and Givenchy Insensé.
Without forgetting Grey Flannel (violet) and Farenheit (honeysuckle)
