I know that Angel is a true gourmand fragrance, but since it is also very musky, could it also be classified as an animalic scent? I'm still not completely knowledgable about this fragrance category. When I sniff Shalimar, I don't get anything dirty, sexy, or animalic --- I get the sweetest smell of a just bathed infant. And that's the perfume. Same with Chanel No 19 perfume --All I get is a fresh, mown lawn with beautiful spring flowers just beginning to bloom.
Maybe my nose isn't sophisticated.

Hi KristineHope. Might I make some suggestions? You can go to a department store armed with a list of animalic perfumes and try some or go to a new age shop or health food store and try out the essential oil of musk. There is a distinct smell with these that after you have smelled a few you should be able to pick up that smell. Most men can't. Hopefully you can get a sales lady that knows what these are and can point you in the right direction. Once you get a feel for some of these animalic scents, it will be very easy.
